So that is Ealing with their newly promised ground extension (or temporary share with Brentford) v Newcastle. Newcastle relegated and told to give their P Share to Ealing.

Unless there is some movement on the criteria its not going to make any difference.

Have heard one rumour suggesting the new structure will feature a relegation playoff between the bottom team in Prem 2 (Rebranded Championship) and top team from Nat 1.

Not heard owt about movement between Prem 1 and 2 though.

If there were to be a playoff between Prem 1 and Prem 2 ...

Would clubs in Prem 2 have to agree to be promoted (along with the horrendous costs involved in wages and maybe the ground), or could they opt out, and if they opt out of promotion, could they still take part in the playoff (for the gate/TV money)?

With things as they stand, I cannot see many Championship clubs wanting the poison chalice of promotion.

Why can?t they just try and keep it simple. You finish bottom, you?re relegated. Top, you?re promoted. I?m looking forward to the announcement that with so few premier clubs the top two champ teams make the Challenge cup!

Oh, the irony. Well, summer is always a dead period, so anything that makes me giggle works for me. This going to be a 15 month summer though, I suspect.
