Does somebody know that the RFU/PRL/CVC are planning a two league system from 2024 with some invited "franchise" clubs? With an invite already in the post.

There was talk of 2 x 10 teams. Wasps, Warriors and Irish to get invites, plus 7 more from the Championship. But, of those 3, could any raise enough finance and find grounds, by the 2024 season start?

What criteria would they apply? Size of ground, finance, league position? You might end up with Caldy joining that new second tier. Their facilities are somewhat sparse, to say the least. Not wishing to pick on any club, just saying.

And I do not think anyone is seriously trying to resurrect Irish or Warriors, although I am sure the fans would be pleased to see it happen.

Which leaves the Championship somewhat short of teams. Maybe they promote two from each league under that, 6 teams, to make a new 13 team championship, and leave those three leagues under that down from 14 teams to 12?

On the tail end of a story on Warriors sale, the following:

"The Rugby Football Union have confirmed that there have been no applications from either Worcester Warriors or Wasps, who had been outlined as potential tenants, to play in their RFU league structure next season."
