Strange. But after EJ we should be used to peculiar selections. Only dedicated 8 is injury prone BV who can't be match fit yet. Would anyone care to speculate how long until the inevitable happens and what will SB do? What injury replacements are allowed?

First time ever to see 4 French based players in the squad.

Or a player listed as "unattached", I think.

I've also heard the rumour that Tom is training reserve. Given Billy's fitness record I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Tom called into the squad before the tournament starts.

Awful squad isn?t it. As others have said Billy V as the only 8 is asking for trouble. No idea how Cole makes the squad. We have 3 bang average SH?s. And Tuilagi - what is the fascination. When he?s not injured these days (rare) he?s totally ineffective. How Tom Willis doesn?t make the squad is a travesty. I didn?t think I could get less interested in rugby but lo and behold Borthwick has seen to it that I can.

I remember Jason Robinson was "unattached" in 2007

And seeing as Watson has got a deal to play for Tigers after the World Cup that makes 7 Saracens and 7 Leicester players in the squad

You're absolutely right - still listed as such on the Wikipedia page, too:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Rugby_World_Cup_squads

I'm of the same mind about the squad, really. Pretty "meh". Still big questions over first choice half backs, despite there being three of each.

A while back had expected Launch to have been near the squad - after his Japanese sojourn.
But I have not seen him even mentioned. Anyone better informed - injured or?

A player may be listed unattached, but Borthwick should be listed as deranged.

He was injured for most of his Japan stint, hand I believe, so presumably not had chance to stake a claim.
