Premiership Rugby clubs post losses of almost ?25m for 2022-23 season

RogerE:
Isn't it strange that loses because of Covid weren't a factor in 3 clubs going under, but now are a factor in the remaining teams underperforming (financially)?

JF:
An entry-level trainee accountant should be able to tell you that spending more than you take in isn't a formula for success.

The clubs either need to get more pople in through the door or cut their costs. That's the only sustainable model. Well, the only one within the rules. You can lie and fudge the numbers but sooner or later someone will find you out.

WonkyWasp:
Some do get found out.  Unfortunately it doesn't stop them.

backdoc:
Introduce a weighting where you lose 1 point for every ?100,000 you lose as a club. Organise the financial year around the club competition.

Gloucester lose 3 points, Saracens lose 53 points. Who wins the league?

Shugs:
Great idea. Really like it.
