Question - does anyone know if any coverage is released of today's match. Wasps currently 43-31 up at 48 mins.

AFAIK, it is not televised. It IS recorded (somewhat), so it will appear on YouTube in a day or so.

Interesting that the much heralded Sarecens Academy di not make it to the final six teams on finals day at the Allianz.

Also note like us they only have one in the last U20s team.

An interesting read -

Having not seen any of the matches I can't comment but we seem to "major" in the forwards.

We need to ensure that we look after Bearbury. He really does look like a rising star.

It is the time now that clubs look to offer contracts to their U18 players to move in to the Academy. Typically, each team will have a preferred first pick (15) team and it will be from them that contracts are offered. Some in the team will actually be U16 or U17, so will be excluded. I think it is not unusual for 6-8 players to get offered Academy contracts (mostly uni contracts, as uni takeup of U18 team players is far higher than the national average of about 50% of 18 year olds). Alex Shaw reports that only four of the Bath team have been offered contracts this year, and I think all were uni contracts.

I suspect more and more will be on uni contracts these days, as life after rugby is being taken more and more seriously.

Myself and NWW stood next to the parents of Zac Nearchou (the prop who appears in the list above) and they said he was looking (hoping) to get a uni/rugby contract with Wasps. I'm not sure how it works but I presume clubs can help out with fees?

Yeah, I believe any education costs are not included in the cap.

Do academy salaries form part of the cap though? Either way its a nice selling tool to try and hold onto young talent and being fair most players would have time to study for a degree. I wonder how many EPL senior squad players take up this offer. I think Itoje is halfway or nearing the end of a degree course
