Not sure the last sentence is the best choice of words given the potential long term effects of head contacts.

A lot of talk he is heading to Wigan RL...

I'll add the words you probably don't want to hear, he could then return to Union ahead of next world cup if wanted by coach.

Please tell me he won't still be blocking the far more talented Marcus Smith from England's Fly Half position?

Maybe attack coach by then to mentor him  ;D

Better still Owen .......  just retire.  Take the dog for walks.  Zip your lip.

But they have lots of good players, why do they want Owen?

Alot of young RL talent heads to NRL these days (Smithies just gone from Wigan) Farrell family legacy at Wigan is massive and would no doubt commercially be great for them plus his salary would be exempt from cap for 1 year and 50% the second year as a new talent player who hasn't played league before. He doesn't seem to want to play abroad so this could be his (even) bigger payday.

I'll add the words you probably don't want to hear, he could then return to Union ahead of next world cup if wanted by coach.

It's interesting that the assumption would be that there should be no better place for financial investment. I have family there, big sports fans and high up in financial institutions but that money allows them to access a much wider range of sporting events than the rugby club on their doorstep. They travel nationaly and globally for events such as rugby internationals, top flight football and American football instead. They might go to the rugby club once a season for hospitality and again for a dinner with a major speaker.

Will Rowlands stats for the weekend very impressive, 27 tackles with none missed and 4 turnovers, really a top international class second row now.

At least there was a player getting a daft red card to keep things familiar.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Farrell cleared

Farrell was originally handed a six game ban.

However it was reduced to four games after taking all considerations into account:

?including the player?s acceptance of foul play, clear demonstration of remorse and his good character.?

"Acceptance of foul play" ???? How can he be said to have accepted that it was foul play when a week ago he successfully argued to have the red card overturned?

They accepted it was foul play in the original but argued successfully it did not meet the red card threshold due to the mitigation they cited.

I think the 2 weeks he got reduced is actually more to do with the cock up of the process than the actual reasons given.
