Can’t wait to hear Lee’s assessment of this garbage. We are disjointed and lacking any idea, poor in all aspects of the game in terms of execution and intensity

Same old same old. The scary thing is Bristol aren’t any good

That’s hell of a squad. Apart from Stooke, Shields and Koch I’m not sure it gets any stronger as a 23 man squad. You could argue the 3 missing players aren’t guaranteed a starting spot any more

Thought Crossdale did well when he came on. Was surprised just how quick he was when he nearly chased down Rees Zammit. Would play Paulo and Josh on the wings and leave the rest of the back as was against Glou. West starts over Hislop and Jack for Brad with Nemo on the bench the rest that same as Gloucester

Genge played a lot more minutes than Jack so I’d be surprised if he’s not playing against Bristol especially with Brad injured

Talking fine margins but for me Cruse is still our best hooker. And if we’re talking a fully available squad surely Koch has to start. Completely agree re Cardall - I think he’s outstanding.
Don’t disagree with the Koch comment just think after playing for SA and the mandatory rest afterwards not sure he will be fully up to speed with his team mates and That’s why I think Alo will start the season. As for hookers I don’t think there is a lot to choose between all 3, I think Oghre is just more mobile around the pitch than Cruse and Frost, Cruse and Frost are better defensively than Oghre and I think Frost is more powerful with ball in hand than Cruse and Oghre. Could be horses for courses depending on the opposition, nice problem to have for a change

1. West
2. Oghre
3. Alo
4. Launchbury
5. Cardell
6. Shields
7. J Willis
8. T Willis (Lee picks Alfie)
9. Robson
10. Atkinson
11. Bassett
12. Berger
13. Spink
14. Paolo
15. Crossdale

I’d go with Tom at 8 but think Lee will pick Alfie. Think Alo will get the nod to start with he deserves it after last season’s improvements and Koch won’t be up to speed

Not wrong about Biyi blokes a beast. This will be the first season for a long time that I won’t be worried when our starting props get replaced. Still a bit worried about the backs, that said I think we are in a better position than this time last year but only time will tell.

All of the current issues come down to one thing, Money and we don’t have a pot to p*as in. Everything is being done on the cheap or not being done at all. I expect things to get worse before they get better if they do at all. We could be the tenants in a few years. Worrying times

Was nice to see Charlie training without all the leg strapping as well.

The only thing he'd get from moving to another club is different coaches.  Bearing in mind the lad has undoubted talent, and used to perform well for us why are we suddenly suggesting that we keep the coaching set up that seems to have stifled him, and bin the talented player?

Surely the better approach is to keep the player who we know has natural ability, and find a way of coaching him that brings that out rather than squashes it?  Whether that is a change in approach, or a change in personnel I don't know.  But it isn't as if there are loads of world class fly halves out there begging for contracts on far less than they could earn a few years ago...

Totally agree. The lad has undoubted talent. OK he had flaws but it's not rocket science to work on catching high balls and tackling. That can be sorted on the training paddock - with the right coaches.
For me his issue under high balls, tackling and diving on a 50/50 loose ball isn’t technique or coaching it’s bravery. I’ve watched on many occasions when you can see him look at what’s coming his way and he doesn’t fully commit. Other players will put their body on the line to secure the ball Jacob just doesn’t do it.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Prem final. Spoiler alert.

Yesterday was never going to be anything but an arm wrestle, and we can all agree Quinn’s Northampton would have been a better final. Congratulations to Tigers they out Sarried Sarries👏👏👏. Whilst I don’t usually care who wins the final yesterday was a bit of anybody but Saracens please, at the end when the camera was panning around the Sarries players the commentators where praising their efforts and made a comment “ we know some of you will never forgive them for what they did and they know that too, but now they’re doing it right”!!! Are they? What did he want sympathy? We lost semi finals to a team who was cheating, Exeter lost finals to a team that was cheating, yet still some deny wrong doing and haven’t accepted responsibility and apologised. A large proportion of the people involved are still there, they took a second massive points hit to stop a full forensic audit so we really don’t know how bad it really was. I’ll forgive them in 5 years time when most of the players have left and they’ve built a squad under the same constraints as everyone else.

This whole post sums our back division up. Nobody can agree why it had gone so wrong or what our best starting backs lineup is or why players are so out of form. If you look at most clubs the fans will agree on the first choice players in most positions there will always be differences of opinion on a few players but by and large they know their best backs lineup. All the posts on here suggest different things player selection, form, coaching, injuries, confidence the list goes on and I think that’s part of the problem I genuinely believe Lee doesn’t really know either we’ve chopped and changed looking for that perfect solution and we have come no where near finding it. I think next season we have to pick a side and go with it give them games together and see where we can go.  In an article today Lee said Mills wasn’t playing because they were must win games and we needed a reliable kicker at 12. Well that wasn’t working in the last 4 games but we keep going with it. Instead of relying on a 12 kicking points let’s score some try’s and put teams under the cosh and make them chase the game.

I agree with Bobby that 12 and 13 were a bit disappointing, Spink needs to increase his involvement in games, too often on the edge.

Crossdale is a frustrating player to watch, has too many errors in his game, hopefully it will be better next season
Hate to say it but I think Spink will look better with somebody else at 12. We all look at Jimmy and want to see the player from 3-4 years ago but unfortunately he’s not there anymore. Taking sentiment out of it it is probably the right decision to let him go if he wants to carry on playing but I’d love to see him back at some point in a coaching capacity. I agree about Crossdale but still think he’s the best option we currently have at 15. He’s young enough to improve with consistent game time but it has to happen fast

Odendaal is not the only signing. Assuming we’re just talking backs we also have Haydon-Wood and Hartley joining the first team. Spink, Atkinson and Porter have a year of experience under their belts. And we (hopefully) won’t be chopping and changing every week. We may also have a couple of new signings. Plus we already have some of the best backs in the division. It will turn.
Odendaal will join in Oct/Nov after finishing a full season in SA, no rest and no preseason if reports are correct. We’ve already seen the effects that can have on a players form. Haydon Wood is a young inexperienced player at 10 and Hartley is stepping up from the academy so I think it would be unfair on them to think they are going to tear the league up straight away. Yes Spink, Porter and Atkinson will be better with this season under their belts. You keep saying we MIGHT have a couple of new signings, at this point we haven’t so you have to base your assumptions on what we have got. Others have commented on your statement that we already have some of the best backs in the division and I agree with their assessment. The one point that could prove you right is IF and it’s a big IF we get a couple of quality signings in the backs this could be a completely different conversation
