I thought Crossdale and Spink did ok. Time and age have caught up with Jimmy I’m afraid. Forward matched tigers. Atkinson needs to have a break I’m not sure he’s ever been fully fit this season but give the kid his due, he puts his body on the line in the tackle regardless of who’s running a him. Reminds me of Jonny Wilkinson in that respect so just hope the rest of his game develops to the same standard

Well it will be a different backs division. Watson, Gopperth, Fekitoa and Le Bourgeois are off. So we’re going to be completely overhauled in the centres. We have a new 10 plus probably a couple of backs incoming. I trust the coaches to a) recognise the problem and b) fix it.
The people that are leaving is irrelevant, the only new signing is going to be joining us mid season after a full season in SA. How can anybody call that a complete overhaul? The difference is the players available next season are players the coaching staff have deemed second choice this season. Please tell me how you can be so confident it will improve

I’ve said this is previous post, I’m worried about next year. Forward will be on par or better than the rest of the league if we don’t get a massive injury list. I’ve been watching wasps since 2016 and this is the worst back division I’ve seen. The major concern is I don’t see it being any different next year, only one significant signing who may come to us in Oct/Nov after a full season in SA and the same coaching staff so what’s going to improve. Still the same questions at 12&13 question marks over 10 & 15, hopefully with game time Atkinson and Crossdale and solve these. How long before the superstars in the forwards get frustrated with playing in a mediocre team and not even challenging for silverware

I’m genuinely worried about next year. We are toothless in attack and just don’t score enough points, we don’t even look like scoring points. With the players leaving and what’s coming in I don’t see that changing much and that is a real worry. Our forwards are giving us plenty of ball but we just don’t seem to know what to do with it. If we converted half our visits to the opposition 22 to points we’d be leading games and making them chase the game.

No lack of effort but that should be a given from professional sportsman. Defence has been ok but we are toothless in attack. We don’t keep the scoreboard ticking over which lets teams off the hook

Why must we be talking to him? This isn’t the Wade that left - mid season let’s not forget when we had little chance to replace. I really don’t get the clamour. Absolutely fantastic, brilliant, one off talent. No doubt about it. But that was then.

Totally agree. Everyone seems to think he’ll just come back and pick up where he left, the reality is he will probably never get back to how we remember him in his prime

I usually post straight after the game but last night I couldn’t go so recorded it and watched it later. This gave the the benefit of rewinding and watching bits again. The truth is we have a pack that in the main will win us lots of ball and will only get better next year. The backs well oh dear where to start, they are truly awful. Going purely on form this season who in our back division would any of the top 6 sides want? Of that back division who will improve next season? Dobby can’t be as bad again next season, I’d like to think Charlie will improve with the experience  and a pre season, I really hope Umanga can find a level of consistency, Spink will improve if he gets game time, Paulo will be a threat. The problem is all of this is wishes and hopes. Some posters have spoken about the quality Mills has OMG the bloke never plays. For me it all adds up to a forwards based game as I can’t see the backs really improving and giving much more than this year. God I hope I’m wrong

Like I said earlier can’t knock the effort but I do worry about our attack. Today wasn’t the first time we’ve spent long periods in the other teams 22 and come away with nothing and I’m tight games it’s making the difference.

Only ourselves to blame. To many knock ons and turnovers in their 22. Our red zone conversation rate must have been appalling. Can’t knock the effort though

Jacob seems more comfortable at 15. As one of his biggest critics I thought he played quite well today, I’d just like him to be more committed under the high ball when the opposition are challenging him.

After tomorrow, our next two matches are Irish (A) next week and Sale (H) on May 20.

5 points tomorrow will be essential, if we are to make a serious challenge for the Top 8 finish.

I think we’ll be ok at Wuss and should have enough at Irish to sneak a close win. Sale for me is 50/50 and by the time we go to Leicester they will be secure in top spot so I would expect a weaker side, if that happens we just have to be careful as the players in the pitch will be trying to prove to Bothwick that they sound be involved in the semifinal

Lee rated that performance a 6/7 is he having a laugh,  5/6 at best and only because somehow we managed to win

Dan looks like he's starting to get some form back, but Porter still looks much sharper and his passing speed is much better. It would be interesting to see the ball speed comparison if they use one of those balls with the chip in. Is Porter the breakthrough player of this year?

It was good to see Jack getting through another game, he must be starting to feel much better and he was getting in his head in to places that require some real self belief. I suppose he'll be on the England tour so will miss the start of next season.

Alfie attracted a lot of defenders, we need to learn to play that advantage because too many times the ball died with him when we could have had numbers.

Shows it’s a game of opinion as I’m sure you weren’t watching the same game as me! I thought Dan was poor again with no improvement on recent weeks, thought Alfie and Jack were average at best, Jack just needs to get games under his belt and be fit and ready for next season.

While a win is win and I’ll take it we were far from convincing. It also has to be remembered that it was Newcastle who have struggled even more than us this season. I want to be upbeat after a win but I’m struggling, performances are poor and there really is no sign of them getting better. Some of the coaching decisions are hard to fathom out, did Jack or Alfie really offer that much today yet Brad goes off for Tom? Jacob was really poor today but no option on the bench to replace him with Charlie injured. Dan Robson! What can you say he’s a shadow of his former self, Porter now needs to start and not just in the cup game on Tuesday but I have a feeling he will start on Tuesday before being back on the bench for the league games. Tonight I’m just going to enjoy the victory and try not It to think to much about the rest
