His son is in our Academy, yes?

He used to be years ago, haven't heard about him for some time though.

He left a while ago.

His son James has been at Uni in Edinburgh. I'm not sure did the timelines, but it's feasible he might be heading back to Wasps after graduating, and Shaun has previously chosen his work to be near his family.

That being said I thought he was committed to Wigan from 2020.

I could see this working very well. Dai at DOR could still help make sure we play an attacking game, Shaun at head coach, would really push our defensive game.

The more I think on this the less I believe it. I don't see him as the kind of person to back out of a contract.

I think Wurzel is more likely.

Likewise can't envisage him backing out on Wigan. It would be a statement of intent though and probably boost ST sales somewhat.

A link on the other forum had him quoted as saying ‘if’ he goes to Wigan and that he won’t take their job if their interim coach is successful

Not sure if I believe it but...

1, Andy Goode hints at BIG news that sounds like coaching staff.

2, it is heavily rumoured that someone is backing out of a contract for next season (assumed a player but you never know).

??

P.s. my first post here, I'm liking this forum much more than the other site, better atmosphere.

Think the contract thing was suggested to be player related. Given our new signings at tighthead i can't see it being jcw or Stuart.

Sorry for double post but just seen the bridge article on connecting the club to it's history, Edwards would be a big thing on that front.

Interestingly the poll below that article asks who else we'd want to bring back. And the first name on the list is Joe Worsley...

As an aside, when someone told me who James' mum was I almost fell off my stool..

Back to the main point about Edwards. I think he would make an excellent coach (well.. I meant he obviously is an excellent coach but especially for us)

Dai would be DoR. Edwards/Worsley would be Head Coach. Dai is going nowhere.

I must admit to a moment of surprise when I found out too.

I know this is hugely unlikely.... BUT

If Shaun Edwards was to return, what odds would you get on DC returning too?

If I recall, Shaun and Danny are close, and Shaun was his mentor.
DC has, I believe, a 1 year contract at Gloucester (or at the very least, a break clause after 1 year)
Wasps have already shown that they're happy to rotate Lima and Billy Searle at 10, and a lot of people have discussed the possibility of Lima at 12 (based on, I think, 1 AB's game where he was moved when no replacements were available and the game was already won)

Could we really see a backline next season of Robson, Cipriani, Bassett, Lima, Fekitoa, Winger Unknown, Miller
With a bench of Vellacott, JdJ and Umaga

Has a player ever done 3 separate stints for the same club?
Can Lima really be considered a 12?
I doubt we could genuinely rotate Lima and Danny at 10, and I'm not sure I see Cipriani as a front line option at 15 after so long
We'd probably have the salary cap space to handle it, unless we sign Savea and/or NMS
Would Booooo be able to handle the excitement of Danny returning again?
Umaga would be spoilt for choice learning from Gopperth, Lima and Danny

Back to reality, it's probably Joe Worsley, which I'd be very happy with

The name who will not be spoken will not return I think we can be certain of that.

Also think Worsley more likely given contract position of both. Also would think someone who has recent day to day involvement might be better - if anything happens!

I don't know, it isn't set to private so anyone can lurk and read though.

If we are playing "guess a new coach" game then Worsely seems to fit, he's out of contract this summer, he brings experience of a different coaching environment (i.e. not an internally promoted player to coach - which I'm not a fan of).. he will (as will all prospective new coaches) have been told about the plans for a new training facility.

Probably. He/She/It read and recently submits to DW.

Well wasps that has taken it to another level. This is real close season stuff!

I was mostly just having a laugh.

I do prefer the idea of Edwards coming in than Gatland.
I loved what Gatland did for the club and I loved seeing us win all the trophies.

But, I love Dai, and while some may not agree with all of his decisions, and may feel that he's sometimes "too nice", I don't see what's wrong with supporting a "nice" club.
I like the idea of the top man being publicly approachable, and a genuine nice person.

The persona of the club is lead from the top, and I can't think of anyone other than Dai that I would want generating that persona.
Everything would be different with Gatland as the main man. Not necessarily better or worse - just different.

I really like the idea of Dai and Shaun - providing they can work together.
Obviously, we already know that Gatland and Shaun have a great working relationship

Hmm, earlier reports here suggested that Wigan wasn't locked in place: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/shaun-edwards-reveals-future-not-15682876

Suggests there's definitely flexibility in the contract, a radio interview he did a few days ago seems to confirm that he sees Wigan as an option, more than the absolute.

Perhaps the real big news is that Heather Small is going to sing 'Proud' in the changing room before the next game!

Bigger news might be if they chose to play "Ode to Joy" after a try

I like the inference and Beethoven's 9th is one of my favorite pieces of classical music, but as it is the official anthem of the EU, perhaps not!

Given Wasps performances of late it might be better if she put some boots on and played in the match!!
