Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Time Scales
« on: January 02, 2023, 03:30:41 PM »

Unless someone turns up with deep pockets ( and I am not sure they exist in the current environment) who wants to invest in a new team I would reckon we are realistically looking at 5 years before New Wasps will be knocking on anyones door for promotion.

Does anyone know how the lower teams in the championship run ( with back room staff). By the middle of this year all previous employees will be spread far and wide and settled in new jobs.  That includes players so as already commented if, the club raises itself from the ashes the ability to stay up in the competitive league would be really excellent.

Ive supported the club just prior to its move to Wycombe and was completely gutted when they went. But I will continue to hope they can raise themselves up in some form or other. But I have now taken off those rose tinted glasses, it hurts too much.

I think WASPS as a club should be very proud of their contribution to France's coaching team.We had a hand in developing their
General Manager and Defensive Coach.  And to be honest they have never played so well.

A nice May day walk by the river and a pint and then watch what I suspect may be a vital win for both sides at the new Brentford Stadium.  Perfect !

Very positive and informative, must be hard to run a professional sports environment in these times.

I read this article because there is more than a grain of truth in what he is trying to achieve , he is looking forward, not backwards at what used to be.
What you are missing is that the kids are into social media in a big way, they are not interested in a rugby club, like their Dads and Uncles, they are interested in a player, or a number of players.

Look at Itoje, Smith, Alfie B and the new fast wingers, exciting players who the kids look up to, the glory boys, the ones that can shine on social media.
The ones that have a presence on Tik-Tok and Instagram, already have thousands of fans.
These are the guys who can sell stuff if they are positioned correctly. They are the future, its not about an old clubhouse smelling of spilt beer and memories of fat old men and their exploits.

Look at the kids at the end of a match who do the kids want to touch, see if the magic rubs off, whose signature and picture do they want.

Yes but this year they will have playoff monies and maybe a Twickers share, they will also be in Europe next year.

Our outlook is not so secure, but we do have a great training ground.

Interesting article in the Telegraph on how they checked and got the 'Counter-Caterpillar' approved :-

Counter-caterpillar' explained: Saracens’ controversial new tactic - and how they got away with it

Not sure how to get a link but I am sure someone can set it up for you.

Yes not something to remember from a Wasps point of view, unless you are a Bees fan, I hope there is no evidence available.  Although from an educational view point it might be worth showing new recruits how not to play a cup game.

Funny I heard the NZ captain say that and thought I had miss heard

Its a total disgrace and apparently the BMX gold medal winner had to fund herself, its just a joke !

What is even worse is that rowing seems to be awash with money.

I think we could find a few Championship clubs in trouble unless they sort that funding out.
