Title: Saints, Blues

Northampton Saints give Bedford Blues 'lifeline' with strategic partnership https://flip.it/My77HD

Interesting model, may be the pathfinder for other such tie ups.

Us and Coventry or Nottingham?

Would imagine Nottingham. Doesn't seem the same contact with Cov.

It would be a tragedy if it wasn’t Coventry.

I would have though that if not Coventry there would have to be a bloomin’ good reason to choose somewhere else. After all it is where we are.

Surely it will be Tigers for us! ;)

That would count as a good reason!

Must be Cov. I worked in Coventry for a couple of years in the 1970s when Coventry were a top club playing at Counden Road. Great fans’ call “Set em alight Cov” with Duckham & Risborough among their great players.

It won't be Coventry. There appears to be little love towards Wasps which may be understandable. I notice that Griffiths, ex EA, is advising Championship clubs against the Prem League.

I guess it depends if its the public or private face of Coventry it understand their love or hate of Wasps.

They don't tend to comment on Wasps too often nowadays anyway. However heard through a contact at Wasps that the arrival of Wasps has helped them quite a bit as it has increased the visibility of Rugby in the city with a lot of people going to their matches that didn't before, also believe it helps with sponsorship etc. So whilst there are some negatives, there are a lot of positives as well.

A closer working relationship between the 2 teams would be great for Rugby and the city.

Interesting discussion with Steele in TRP where he claims the self serving premiership has lost sight of rugby's values. With Griffiths lead they are plotting a life after the separation from the Prem and with their own Heartland competition he feels they will be more successful without the top league. He states it will give them a chance to evoke the old "my city my club" value rather than Prem brand events. Doesn't sound too interested in link ups.
