Lack of game conditioning is a critical factor for all sports but it seems more critical for Rugby (both codes). There are a lot of factors for the sport to consider but if player welfare was top of the list......I think they’d cancel this season and start again fresh next (hopefully).

I'm not surprised at the Marler suspension. Deserved.
Manu seems harsh to me. I thought there were mitigating circumstances and the red card alone was punishment enough. I guess it is just zero tolerance.
With that in mind though one thing that is guaranteed to cause a potential head injury is being punched very hard in it! No consistency.....

I cannot make up my mind whether Eddie Jones really believes that is a possibility or whether it is just another controversial headline designed to keep his profile high whilst he pumps his book?

If he really believes it is a possibility then it could just be a warning shot across the bows of the RFU to ensure they start talking to the players.

It all really stinks though. On the R5 Live news this morning the tenor of the sports report was a little more sympathetic but Rachel Burden quickly brought it back to reality by asking how they are under the cap this season? I'm just worried that the narrative now becomes "oh fair play - they've held their hands up to the mistake". I don't care if they are relegated or not but if the points deduction is to mean anything the rest of the season needs to be played as it would normally and that includes their England players playing in 6N unless they are injured and out altogether.

We have not had a great start to season but we are not the only ones.
What worries me is that this year there is no stand out sure fire candidate to go down.
Its going to be a scrap and not sure if we are built for it.
Its going to be a nervy season until/unless we start putting a run of wins together.

Radio 5 lives so called sports news presenters are not the best informed on anything that is not football.
Early doors today I did not get the sense they were being overly sympathetic to Sarries - in fact the only soundbites being played were by Tony Rowe.

That statement from Worcester is great as it really takes the high ground. I can imagine Sarries getting pretty hot receptions at most away grounds from hereon in. Will take a while to live down and I actually feel sorry for their fans who are going to be getting plenty of stick (both good natured and probably quite vitriolic) for the foreseeable!

Wow.....incredible situation.

Like many other people what confuses me is that presumably this team is over the limit so how can they be allowed to all compete this season?
Given the talent they have they absolutely could overhaul that to ensure they are not relegated and potentially also win the European Cup and then what?

It is a huge fine to be fair. In this instance I don't blame the players. They are not responsible for administering the club only getting the best deal possible for themselves.

For me this is classic England under EJ. If plan A works then they can be devastating and dominant. When plan A doesn’t work though then they struggle to adapt and find a foothold.

There has been so much written and broadcast this week about Farrell leadership but once again I’m not sure I saw much evidence of it today. The pressure fromSA put the fundamentals under intense scrutiny and the mistakes were ugly to watch.

This is a very good England team. Just not as good as perhaps it thought it was.

When Slade came on I was thinking surely Daly was going off as he did not have a good game. There were quite a few subdued performances today.
Someobody asked me who I would take in a match between this squad and the 2003 RWC winners. After the NZ game it seemed like a relevant question.........now? No contest!

Some good young players got a lot of experience and I’ve got to say the much maligned You gs played well throughout the tourney for me.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Should he stay or should he go?

For me there is a world of difference between whether Dai is to blame and whether he should go.

As has been expressed already in this thread there have been a whole host of issues (avoidable and unavoidable) during his tenure that were out of his control. At times we've been sublime and at times we've been ridiculous. I would say he is not the root cause but if results continue he may be the easiest place to start if we want to change our fortunes.

To balance that I always think that any decision to replace the coach should be only made if there is genuine belief that you can at least get a replacement with the potential to do better!

Football clubs regularly ditch coaches/managers only to replace with inferior versions of what they had. It always comes down to the fundamental point that its a lot easier to change one DOR/Coach than it is to change a whole squad of players.......

Personally I hope he turns it around (again) but I'm becoming less optimistic by the week.
