Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: From the WW Forum - Wasps info
« on: February 19, 2023, 09:43:10 PM »
Atlas sound rather desperate.
- Remember they made an offer for WW that the RFU didn't think was sustainable.
- They started by saying that WW would "merge" with Stourbridge with a new club Sixway Rugby or similar but within days in response to protests said they would keep the WW name. That was such an obvious reaction from WW fans it makes you wonder why they ever suggested it. Have they got agreement in principle with Stourbridge yet?
- They announced they had an agreement in principle for Wasps to move to Sixway for training and matches. No comment from the new Wasps owners to agree with that. Places Atlas in a weaker position.
The new Wasps owners are doing the right thing in not making any public statement before there is any formal agreement in place. Good for them. Many of us will have been in the situation of having agreed in principle to buy a new home - but we don't make a big announcement saying so until we have checked the surveys and available finance.
I know we would all like the new owners to say something with all the rumours and conjecture. Good for them to resist the temptation to do so until there is a legal agreement

Wonky - the timing of your comment was perfect. The first item on Page 2.
Agree with the comments about Cole & Vunipola. Great props in the past but time they both retired with us remembering their pomp rather than wishing they were not there.
Off to Cardiff on 25th. Could be a dreadful game y both teams.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps to Sixways - Telegraph

Worth visiting the Warriors site and you will see comments similar to those you have read on this thread. They, rightly, feel shafted by O'Toole/Atlas after all their optimism. O & A are, like Warriors' former owners, claiming that they feel they have been let down by the RFU in terms of the conditions they have been demanding of the new owners. No mention of what those conditions are but I would guess that they would have been expected to reimburse their rugby creditors. So they have decided to partner with Stourbridge whose first team would move to play at Sixways. That depends on how the Stourbridge members vote tomorrow night.

How do I feel about Wasps moving to Worcester? Well, I have supported them since 1990 and therefore followed them from Twyford Avenue to Loftus Road to High Wycombe to Coventry. A bit more of a stretch going to Worcester. I can understand how the Worcester fans feel - but, hopefully, they will not blame Wasps and there is no indication of that on their site.

What will the RFU do? If they have any sense, they will extend the deadline beyond the 14th so they and the two clubs can sort out whatever issues need to be settled. They can't keep saying that its up to the two parties. They are a key player.

For those interested in prostate cancer, I had an operation to remove my prostate and am still here Good luck those who have concerned.
The trouble with men and our health is that we do not have regular checks.

There was a story about one of them being a “trainee solicitor with a law firm that has now disappeared after being involved in losses incurred by a Saudi businessman. I am sure they have an explanation.

So a couple of people disliked Foley’s refeering. Please explain what he did wrong compared to other referees. I thought it was an exciting games especially with Bath improving in the second half. They have a good acquisition from Worcester.

A good performance from Bassett, especially his first try. Also very good in following up kicks and challenging whoever was waiting to catch the ball.
What’s happened to Kibiridge? He started so well with us.

Covkids posting sounds like the first half of the Gloucester game.

I guess we would all be very happy if the first half performance at Gloucester had continued for the whole game. So what went so badly wrong in the second half?
I saw just the highlights of the Bristol game on BT Sport but what was interesting was a set of statistics which showed we were generally better than BRISTOL - possession etc. Did anyone see the same and can add other stats?
Whatever the coaching question, the answer is not Mitchell. He has been with us twice without seeming to have the answers and now he is following EJ and earning more money in Japan.
Difficult to get a new DOR. Maybe offer a role to the forwards coach at Jersey - lost his name for the moment.

So the current Worcester owners have given “detailed assurances” that they will be ready for the first match. A case of seeing is believing when the teams runs on to the field.

Hasn’t he played for S Africa on the wing as well as scrum-half? Good player to have in the squad and help coach the scrum-halves.

Is this largely a problem for rugby Union? I ask as one of the Welsh guys involved played both codes. Are there thing we can learn from League? They certainly have big impact tackles by several players but no mauls and scrums are just a way of play re-starting.
