Commentators see what the ref 'sees', after being instructed by the TV bosses to never contradict the ref. For example, if the ref says it wasn't forward, the commentators will say 'That was just about a flat pass,' or some such nonsense.

You need to watch more rugby Nelly, the endless replaying of supposed "incidents" and questioning of the referee is getting tedious IMO

Farrell Snr doesn't seem to be doing a bad job.

Interesting that when he was in the England set up, everyone wanted him gone... Nothing as fickle as sports fans.

who from very little can fashion an all conquering team
IMO Scotland has the best side its had for generations, I'd hardly say it was "very little". As for all conquering... beating England doesn't require that much at the moment given they gave Scotland all their opportunities to score. But as they say, "as long as we beat England!"

If Wasps join the URC would England-qualified players be able to play for England?

As it currently stands, no. As they would be playing in a league other than the prem.

It's 2025 they are aiming for I believe.

Not entirely sure whether that would make a difference IMO
Hiring a team to compete with what are essentially 50-60% international sides is going to be a challenge even with no salary cap. They would be starting a team from scratch in June/July to start playing in September. They wouldn't realistically get access to newly hired players before that. That's a big ask! I can't see them being competitive for several seasons.
Obviously not known at the moment how well off Wasps expect to be but will they be able to compete financially?

I don't think Wade will get much game time now SL is in charge

Think thats more to do with the rest of the squad being very good & their first wingers not being injured. He didnt play much last year once they were fit & that had nothing to do with SL

To add, happy to be proved wrong, but wasn't Lancaster the last England coach to pick Christian Wade in an England squad?

Don't agree with some peoples view of history. Wasps went bust because of decision Wasps made. No one else.

I do agree that maybe things could have gone differently after they went bust if the RFU & PRL had a better plan for the future, but ultimately Wasps caused their own demise.
If Wasps are allowed to come back as franchise club in the mythical Prem2 then what will happen with the "Rugby Debts"? Weren't these a pre req for any return above level 11?
Other debts are gone because Wasps was a business that went bust. Like any other business that goes bust debts are written off or a percentage recovered from sale of assets.

As for the URC, I cannot see a Wasps side recruited between now & September being able to compete with even the Welsh sides. For some people that might be OK but I don't want to watch my team losing by 50 points to Leinsters B team or equivalent every week. Plus away games that will be a struggle to attend & no relegation or promotion? Not for me thanks

While I understand the dislike of the prem I can't see why anyone would get excited by the URC. Wasps would be down the bottom of the table with the Welsh sides getting pumped every week plus away games will be a pain in the a*rse once the novelty has worn off.
For me, prem 2 or championship is where wasps should be.
I share the concern that is a wasps team with no wasp connections other than a badge actually wasps? But I will cross that bridge when /if we get there

Barbeary & Atkinson starting with Fisilau & Hartley on the Bench.

Slightly surprised to see Atkinson starting given his limited game time of late, and some of that at 15!
Hope he has a stormer

Criteria for entry of any club into Prem 2, should it ever come off, are not entirely known at this point. (not exactly a surprise I know!)
Assume that any club will need finance of some description, with proof thats its real & agreed for a set period of time, a team & ground to play in. I think it will be safe to assume "Rugby Creditors" will be quietly forgotten about.
If Warriors can agree all of that, then I guess they will assured entry, just like Wasps & Irish, the noises coming from the RFU & PRL would seem to indicate that.
Prem 2 is not being welcomed by anyone so far so not sure how this is really going to pan out.

Fans of other clubs which I have spoken to have sympathy (the more intelligent understand that their club might be next!) but don't see why Wasps, of the others, should get any kind of special treatment, especially if it means established Champ clubs get relegated because they don't fit the franchise system, or don't want to. No one wants a franchise system where clubs get promoted or relegated on anything other than playing performance.

Whilst all very positive there's nothing really of substance in there. It all revolves around Prem 2 which has not progressed past the squabbling stages.

Cars and most other vehicles are not engineered to run at or below 20 mph.

I don't think is correct any more. If you place your car in 3rd and drive at 20mph the engine will be virtually idling & you will be burning almost no fuel. There's less accelerating up to speed & braking again so less omissions & less wear & tear on your vehicle.

The cost to society of reducing the speeds to 20 mph - more pollution in urban areas directly from emissions and indirectly from tyres and brakes, cost in fuel, engine strain etc - has to be weighed against this.

There's plenty of readily available studies that show reduced pollution, & less wear & tear on engines, brakes & tyres because people aren't speeding up or slowing down. However some cities had an average speed of 17 mph before the implementation of a 20 mph limit so not entirely sure what the point was.
Like most things you can find "facts" to prove just about anything you want.

Large chunks of London are now 20 mph zones. TFL have introduced it on selected roads & several boroughs have put blanket speed limits in place.

Apparently, "monitoring of the 20mph schemes in London shows that since they were introduced, the number of collisions has reduced by 25% (from 406 to 304), and collisions resulting in death or serious injury have also reduced by 25% (from 94 to 71), demonstrating the huge impact of lowering speeds across London."

But that's TFL's own figures so should be suitably doubted.
I have to say that once you get used to it, its actually more relaxing and a lot of the time roads are so busy you can't do much over 20 if you wanted to.
