Borthwick released Willis and Hill.
-
& the form 9 in the prem, Mitchell...
& one of the form wingers, Murley...
& one of the props that gets rave reviews, Rodd....
& one of the few fit centres in Porter...
I guess it might have been too short notice for any radical shake up, but lets see what the weekend brings in terms of actual team & performance

With this and making Owen Farrell captain, Borthwick isn't filling me with confidence right now.

With one or two exceptions Jones selection wasn't all that bad. It was how he made them play that was the issue for me. I'm reserving judgement till the end of the 6nations.
We should have an idea of whether Borthwicks england will be able to producer any decent rugby

I was hoping this 6N would rekindle my love of rugby, especially after EJ left, but what I'm seeing and hearing about the England set up doesn't fill me with joyful anticipation. I'll be making an effort to watch France and Ireland, I think they offer the best hope of decent rugby, but I will also give England a go. The triumph of hope over experience ....
-
I just wish I didn't admire France so much. Maybe there is hope, wasn't that long ago that they were a bit of a mess.

Un-secret weapon ............ Sean Edwards,

I think Borthwick was a pretty uninspiring appointment. Having said that he?s not Jones. I?m for giving him a chance and I find myself hoping England win again which is a step forward from Jones.
-
The Scots look actually quite decent. England could struggle whoever Borthwick picks.
Scotland team: Hogg; Steyn, Jones, Tuipulotu, Van der Merwe; Russell, White; Schoeman, Turner, Nel; R Gray, Gilchrist; Ritchie (c), Crosbie, M Fagerson.
Replacements: Brown, Bhatti, Berghan, J Gray, Dempsey, Horne, Kinghorn, Harris.
Lets hope Russell has one of his many off days!

Don't recall any of those ever being against England before!

In many ways I agree he is uninspiring, but it's been interesting to hear about some of the background to his story from player to coach and beginning to get a sneaking suspicion that he's going to have both the trust and the respect of players. With some good coaches around him, they could be a force again.
Ideally i'd have liked to see Jack in the matchday squad, but like the look of his pack and the balance it has. Chessum might be light vs Hill but Ludlam hits hard. The other change I would have liked to have seen would be Kelly/Lawrence in for at 12, but understand that needs must with injuries.
