I thinknits really interesting and quite telling that Steve Vaughan has managed to shift rhe blame onto the "management" while conveniently not mentioning that he was CEO and therefore ultimately in charge of the management.

Everyone was thrilled when he came on board because he was supposed to turn us around, but what did he actually manage to do?

Cut the player budget, remove the match day experience, and bin our DoR without replacing him.

And yet he's the good guy...

Looked at his LinkedIn page when this first blew up. Can’t say he’s had any great success at any of the companies listed where he has had a major role. Unless he likes lost causes.

We signed plenty of injured players on the basis of their pre injury form. You just make a fitness test a condition of the contract.

I just thought all the players were signed got injured the day after they signed

Always remember that with Kurtley Beale.

Possibly one argument for immediate transfers.

I've said it on here, but am I right in remembering that we enquired 8 years ago about using that newly built stadium and were told that they didn't want rugby there?

If so, do we know why they policy changed?

Correct. Part of Planning application restrictions. Guessing costs played a factor in council changing mind- isn’t it a community stadium?

If a deal is concluded quickly, you also have the nucleus of the squad and so have a much more competitive squad than buying a cheap Championship club and having to build.

Would require deep pockets though (for rugby).
They're all out of contract. If you have the money just go direct.

Steven Vaughn indicated that they are offering some players the option of a contract next year with them being free t find a team in the interim.

This puzzles me more than anything else.  Vaughan was made redundant too, how can he offer anyone anything?

Has he ?. Wasn’t there mention of a few staff being retained to assist. May still be involved with the companies still operating.

The Majetski  (*? spelling!)  Stadium was too big and I thought it really soulless.  But the supporters were great, and welcoming too and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  2 Wasps in the middle of a solid block of STH Not Nots.

Yes, I went once too, nice folks, but it felt more empty that the Ricoh (as was). Irish could not wait to exit that place. Football stadia just don't have the right feeling to me. I have little doubt that Brentford doesn't feel quite right either.

Actually like the Brentford stadium .has an old school feel, being in the centre of things , anticipation building in the pubs around, and the walk to get in. Also a a feel of being close to play. Whereas the Madjeski , CBS, Sale and Sixways have that feel of being edge of town ,put there so as not to disturb others, just watch the match and go home.

It’s why a lot of Coventry fans still hanker for their old ground, and West Ham fans.

There was an article stating that this could be the start of Central contracts, and with Jack without a club contract he could be the first for the rfu.

But I wonder if players would want it.
Especially while Eddie is in charge, very few are guaranteed of being in the England squad so I'm not sure how that would work.

When signed to a club, a player would get their club salary and the England top up.
A central contract would likely need to be a serious amount to be worth it for the players

But presumably if you get a central contract you will be almost guaranteed a place in a matchday squad/ travelling reserves ? Can’t see EJ ( or anyone else for that matter) push for someone to have central contract, and then not use them. Would be an admission of getting it wrong.

And in these uncertain times maybe a lower but guaranteed amount is better for a player than a club contract .

My take on the administrators comments are that if a deal can be struck quickly, there is still enough loyalty amongst playing (and background) staff to get things operational again, before they move on.

After all, that is part of his role to present as much as possible a viable business with what is there.

And it’s not anything we haven’t heard from other quarters.

How can we be relegated if we don't exist?

Well we certainly can’t lose any more games this season

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Implications of P Share Value...or otherwise
« on: October 17, 2022, 10:20:38 AM »
I'm not an accountant, but I've seen the P share valued at about £9m.  It is clearly worthless and so surely should come off the balance sheet of all the clubs, shouldn't it?  That will leave a £9m hole in everyone else's accounts won't it?  And any club looking to get finance will consequently have more difficulty and so less likely to dig themselves out of a hole?  Maybe someone with more knowledge of these things could explain what the impact of the P shares becoming effectively worthless would be for others?
Agree. I’m sure in the past a club ( Leeds tykes?) took a short term loan against the strength of P shares. Maybe that was why they were forced to sell them to chiefs rather than Bristol, when loan was up.

If anything,if  HMRC took them , they would know they could get payment ( dividend) in a few months time . And for Worcester too

The only problem with a possible tie-up with London Irish is what will they be called?

Remember the current London Irish (professional) team is an amalgamation of the original London Irish, London Scottish and Richmond first teams, and they decided to keep the London Irish name with the idea it would attract the London-basewd Irish supporters. To that end they adopted the pseudo Irishness, including Republican overtones, and those bl00dy drums.

Would we become Irish Wasps?

Might possibly start off as Irish Wasps, but like Bordeaux Begles ( or even Racing Metro 92 ) will be shortened when referred to , and eventually a name dropped.

Would I care or go ? Too numb at moment to make an opinion. Might as well speculate on giving what and who is left to Coventry RFC and merge with them.
