Farrell, BBC Rugby, quote, Saracens can raise the celling higher, he must be talking about how much they can cheat the salary cap by and not be investigated.

So McCall thinks the on field product is really good, really, has he not watched good French Rugby, and there's the problem with English Rugby, he thinks the EAs Leicester and Sale play really good Rugby.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Italia
« on: February 26, 2023, 12:33:11 PM »
I can't believe nobody has posted on this game, it was by a country mile the best game yesterday. Italy are playing with real flair and ambition and they are lasting the full 80 but beating Ireland was to big an ask in the end. I personally don't like Irelands style of play but you have to admire intensity, especially at the breakdown, allways 2 players tracking the ball carrier, I don't remember Italy getting 1 turnover yesterday, so stop talking about boring England they wont change under SB, just EJ mark 2. If you want to watch good Rugby in the style of Wasps of old watch Italia next week, they might lose but you will enjoy watching, also you might enjoy watching England for a different reason.

You are right about the scrums, the other thing I forgot were the memory's of sitting with my Welsh father in law watching England getting slaughtered yet again, still he did introduce me to Rugby so I thank him for that.

BBC doc. about Welsh rugby in the very late 60s and 70s, well worth a watch, I  came to rugby in the middle 70s so was unaware of the nonsense of amateurism pre 70s, eg. no training together, no coaching, not allowed to discuss tactics, had to supply your own track suit, turn up at Twickenham do a few push ups in the car park and then run out on to the pitch and play. The other thing that struck me was the amount of round the neck tackles and I don't mean seat belt, these were almost clothesline jobs, seemed to be a legal tackle in those days, the fazlet would be in his element, anyway well worth a watch, It's on the BBC I player

Jo Marler given 6 week ban with 4 suspended.
Marler has plenty of previous for this sort of thing and lets face it he's doing it to get a reaction with the possibility of getting a fellow rugby player sent off, and he sometimes gets away with it, as we saw in the Hask Marler incident, he comes across in the media as a nice cheeky chappy but I think what he does is very cynical and is deserving of a longer punishment.
The sad thing is he doesn't need to do it, he's a very good rugby player, must say something about his mindset.
