Some good news. He’s joined as senior academy forwards transition coach. Will bring some good energy I feel.
-
Welcome back, Ash.
-
Just seen as much on Twitter. Links to this article: https://www.wasps.co.uk/news/ashley-johnson-joins-senior-academy-coaching-team/
Definitely good news to have Smash back around the place.
-
Wow good news - now giver him two games!!!
-
Good news and puts paid to the idea there’s a recruitment ban.
-
Excellent news. Welcome back Ashley.
Best wishes to Richard Beck.
-
Seems like the sort of character that will lift a squad. His infectious personality is mentioned in the piece.
-
Really pleased to have him back in the fold. He's someone who always led from the front and gave his heart and soul to the club. Plus my kids love him.
-
Great news! As well as everything he will bring to the coaching set up, it will give us a long overdue opportunity to thank him for his years as a player. Wasps legend and all round top bloke.
-
Brilliant news! Welcome back Ash ........... couldn't be more pleased. Hooray!
-
Wonderful to have him back. A real gentleman, a great player. I am hoping he may have some offspring in the Wasps ranks in a few years.
-
That is brilliant news!!
Fantastic guy to have around the club.

As a Wasps fan - welcome home AJ.
As a community coach at Moseley - sad to see you leave.
All the best to you.
-
Good news and puts paid to the idea there’s a recruitment ban.
Does it, though? Fissler's article on this topic pertained to players, not coaches.
Regardless, I'm pleased to see 'Smashley' back at the Ricoh (as it'll always be to me) - an iconic part of the Club's history, utterly beloved by the fans, and a real character, to boot.
-
Yep, wonder what kind of salary these roles have.
Sure he could have got another playing contract somewhere when he left us but was obviously settled in the area and Moseley was a good fit.
This is great news for us. What a top bloke, wasp legend and will be great for the young guys coming through!
-
Great news - always loved him playing and moving in a game from hooker to flanker. Provided verve and drive to the team and is a top bloke.
His influence on player learning will be positive.
-
Great to have Ashley back.
This is great news for us and for the young Academy guys coming through as well.
Not only has he experienced different rugby cultures, he's also played Internationally and in both the front and back rows so has a mass of rugby knowledge to call upon and pass on.
He's also a top bloke and has time for everyone so I'm sure he will boost all the squad and back room staff as well as well as us fans.
Based on that kick assist from our own 22 for Wadey a few years back, he might take on some "kicking coaching" from Jimmy as well!
-
Forgetting tax bills, pitch condition etc, the big news appears to be Ashley has had a haircut!

OMG ................ the sky is falling ..............
WOW - that is a change. Perhaps he feels that as he is moving up the food chain, he needs to change his image!!!! ;D ;D ;D
-
Of course it could have been because of the hot weather. I just can't imagine him with short hair.

Wasn't the weather hot in South Africa? :)
-
True! But his Dad was in the Army there and made his boys have very very very short haircuts. When Ash was old enough to do his own thing - he rebelled. Hence his famous un-haircut.
