Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: A Question and Puzzled

What happens to shares of TV revenue if a team with no P shares operates in the Prem? Surely no team would agree to play in a live televised game without receiving some payment for it - P shares or not.

Also, they are inherently risky. If you are an investor in anything then you have to accept this. Never put all your eggs in one basket.

I'm not a bondholder but I saw the prospectus and the risk factors were covered pretty thoroughly. A bondholder has every right to feel aggrieved (and I'd be pissed off too), but the risks were open and apparent before they invested.

Just assembling a squad capable of competing and consolidating in the Championship has to be the first priority. There are some really good well-established teams in the Championship and talk of promotion is a bit premature for a club that only exists on paper at the moment.

Now need to know where?

Can't wait to start hearing news about coaching staff, realistic ambitions within budget and of course the sort of players we'll be able to attract.

Agreed. I do wonder if I even want Wasps to be in that at all. I mean, in the long term, for individual clubs, it isn't sustainable. The sugar daddy would have some form of attachment to the club, and when they depart, everything falls apart.

I can see it now. The EA's rising to the top of a cesspit of corruption.

I'm in south Birmingham. From a purely selfish perspective it's less than 30 minutes to Sixways for me.

Doubt we'll be welcome though. IF we do play at Sixways next season, even though it will only be on a rental basis, I can still imagine the crap coming our way.

I know this won't be popular, but it makes me wonder whether a Worcester Wasps merged team might in the end have proven the lesser of two evils.

I'll be making the effort to go across to Pau to go and watch Dobby play at some point.

At this rate, I'm not sure I'll be making much effort to watch any rugby at all. I'm not sure I'm even going to bother watching England tomorrow.

Rugby, in the land of its birth, is dying on its arse. Elite rugby is controlled by a shrinking, self-serving EPL with less teams, less players, less games, less fans, less exposure, less interest and surely less revenue and less investment. At all other levels, an incompetent RFU is determined to create division, and possibly two separate versions of the sport, by introducing new laws for some but not for others, based on nefarious "evidence" and causing dismay among just about everybody who enjoys watching and playing the game.

There was an interesting comment on 5 Live this morning. O'Toole was being interviewed and he said that he was determined to bring elite level rugby back to Sixways with or without the RFU.  I have been wondering what that meant all morning. I am wondering if I misheard...could they be looking at the UC or France?

They can't.  The RFU has jurisdiction on what rugby can be played within England and I doubt they would allow a club to play in an external league...... .....

The RFU has jurisdiction over its members. But I don't see how the they could claim any legal right to disallow an independent business from forming a non-affiliated club to play in another league?

Wherever we play we need to generate an atmosphere. Hard to do at CBS when only a third full, even harder at the Alex sat a mile away from pitch.

I really don’t give a shit about Coventry rugby or football club. I have never know an area bitch so much. I hope we score 50+ against them next season

Steady on. CRFC are playing well - and we haven't even got a team yet.  :-\

It seems Mr Johnston believes the Championship is HIS league or CRFC's league. He mentions it more than once. It's not his league or his club's league at all. Does he seriously believe the RFU must consult him for his approval before relegating a premiership team into the Championship? And our relegation is definitely not done as a helping hand out of RFU favouritism.

Watched Moseley beat Plymouth Albion today. Ben Morris was playing at 7. Ignoring the yellow card he picked up for a tip-tackle, he played very well.

Wonder if Baxter will suddenly quieten down on his previously outspoken opinion.

Morning all... been away and catching up on the Wasps news feels like we're in a much better place than we were a couple of weeks back.

Good to see both us and Worcester being "saved", and plans being laid for next season.

I know there's other threads about it but seeing the lads signing for other sides en masse (as opposed to the usual churn post-season) is pretty rough. Great news for them, but Josh in a Quins shirt... Charlie in a Tigers one... oof.

Anyway, just checking in really. Looking forward to next season now!

Being a natural pessimist, I'm not counting my chickens just yet.
