As Shugs rightly says, "The RFU now have to sort that out". Lets hope they do in a way which is fair and beneficial to all.

And there I rest my case.

I have a great deal of sympathy with Championship clubs. What given right do Wasps (or Worcester come to that) have to be parachuted into the Championship. We have no squad, no administration, no ground, no staff; we do have a training ground (arguably retained by dubious means), a sullied name and a history of huge debt.

Yet we seem to expect the Championship clubs and supporters to welcome us with open arms and believe it a privilege that we play in their midst. So what's going to happen? One up and 2 enforced relegations to give a championship of 13? Who's going to tell London Scottish/Ampthill/Caldy they're being relegated in addition to the bottom club and that Rams/Sale FC/Rosslyn Park aren't being promoted from Nat One? This is the core of this "rant".

As I've said in another thread, let's have less arrogance, more realism and a great deal more understanding and humility.

The Portway site is just a field with clubhouse, not suitable for use in the Championship.

Really? What about Caldy? Or Ampthill? Great clubs with fantastic fans - proper rugby.

Baldpaul is spot on. I think we need to manage our expectations a bit more and have a great deal more humility. And I for one would rather not antagonise other Championship Clubs' supporters before we even get there.

Quote
Jonah Holmes was lured away from Wales to go there this season in a deal big enough to rule himself out of further Wales caps (although he was a way down the pecking order)

Not correct: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/truth-jonah-holmes-wales-grand-25134083

One interesting thing I've noticed this year is that 2 full squads of players and coaches have been distributed across the rugby world. Famous ones we know about but there are many more and the impact on the championship and below is significant and very much to the good. Don't expect new Wasps to have an easy time and the thought of Tom West going to Trailfinders for "less abrasive" seasons is laughable.

Incidentally, there are a few statements in the middle of that Walesonline piece that may edify people a little about the Championship.

The idea of Wasps moving to sixways sounds like a non starter on a number of levels.
The RFU wouldn't allow it

Why? Richmond and London Scottish ground share.

Interesting quote (IMHO and my emphasis): “The game is in crisis right now, at pretty much every level and we must effect sustainable change. Ealing Trailfinders, and the Championship clubs in general, who have always represented the fabric of our game, must be at the forefront of the solution. I have been struck by the lack of consideration for this key area of our game and the administrators have not been listening. I look forward to helping represent the justifiable ambitions of Ealing Trailfinders while working alongside the Championship clubs and the whole leadership of our game in England.

The long term future can be very bright, but only if the game genuinely comes together in the immediate term. The work starts now.”

Received my free season ticket yesterday. Unfortunately I won't be there tomorrow as work beckons but otherwise...

I always wear an Ealing shirt and a Wasps cap (opposite when I used to go to the CBS).

I believe (and am happy to be corrected) that Ealing are the only fully professional team in the Championship.

27
And presumably current 13 P shares divided between 20 clubs.

28
2 x 10 team leagues so presumably bottom team of Premiership relegated (Bath on current standings); no promotion from Championship (RFU may end up on court on that one); bottom 4 teams from Championship relegated.

What brilliant, creative thinking!

According to Sky Sports one bid is headed by David Armstrong. I've met him several times at Adams Park and again in Toulon and La Rochelle. He always came across as a genuine person and I have no doubt that he could a beneficial owner.

Whether we get relegated or docked 35 points is a different question but our case is different to Worcester in that we have continued to meet our fixture commitments and have, thus far, paid our players and staff. Time will tell....
