Thanks VV.......it was really a case that you don't know what you would miss until that suddenly happens.  We all really appreciate your efforts!

I agree with you so closely Shugs. I have no interest in rugby at present and it really hurts to see our guys out there in different teams. All power to them but it is that horrible feeling of what might have been with a team with so much potential.
I am so hoping we can afford/attract a core of some of that team and wonder when we will start to hear who might be managing and playing for us next season.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Tom Willis - England Call up?
« on: January 10, 2023, 12:51:48 PM »
Absolutely delighted for Tom. We could all see what a good player he is but under Jones he would never have got a look in. Borthwick is doing and saying all the right things so far as far as I am concerned.
Fingers crossed for Tom and I will be cheering him on whatever club he is playing for (OK maybe with the exception of The Cheats)

I would love to see Tom Willis back! Jack would be highly unlikely as I think Toulouse will want to keep him and he will be beyong the reach of a Championship club.  The other players I would love to realistically see back are Tim Cardall and Eliott Stooke.
As mentioned above, how wonderful to even be having these conversations again!

I will be at the first game next season for sure!!

I hope this community can keep going as I have visited this site daily for a while now after being a season ticket holder during the whole of our time at Adams Park and a year at The Ricoh where we sat just down the row from Wonky.
I could not support another premiership team so hope that our Wasps can re-form and somehow come back to where we want them to be. In the meantime I wil probably start to watch Henley or Chinnor which are our two most local clubs.
So many great memories over the years!! I so hope something comes up at the 11th hour and 59 minutes but have been living in dwindling hope ever since the first of the recent announcements.
Thanks for all your time and effort in running the site VV.

Anyone found a reasonably priced flight to Lyon?
As mentioned on another thread this is the message on the BBC website on the Lyon v Glasgow match report

"Wasps will be at home for next weekend's match"

Where can we get an official ruling?

It would be great to watch Lyon at home!

Wasps to Lyon then

According to the BBC "Wasps will be at home for next weekend's match"

This really will be one to get to!

Phew!!! I was seriously worried at one stage. Am on painkillers after a shoulder op but had to get a beer in the third quarter.......will be out with the fairies later!!

Very glad we saw that one out. Now for Bath or Edinburgh!!

WTF.......What are we playing at? We are missing too many first up tackles and replacing West by Harris looks like being a problem.

Octavian Morariu, President of Rugby Europe & Member of International Olympic Committee commented:

Even though I hoped hat these news won’t be confirmed, unfortunately, I can now sadly say that Oleksi Tsibko, former captain of the Ukrainian national team, former president of the Ukrainian Rugby Union (2003-2005) and also Mayor of Smela City (2015-2018) died defending his town and his country.
May he Rest in Peace and be always remembered!

Sad news but I can guarantee I would be doing the same if, heaven forbid, we were ever in that position.

The world's rugby community should be touched by this.

That was a really enjoyable 30 minutes.......great memories! It wasn't long enough to include more of the great characters involved with Wasps at that time but certainly gave a sense of the intensity.
Funnily enough I had completely erased my memory of that home loss to Celtic Warriors even though I was at the match but remember the rest so clearly. Quite how LBND and Volls managed to carry on after that head collision vs Gloucester in the quarter final is still beyond me as we heard the sound from the halfway line....just imagine the reaction nowdays! I also had not realised the family background situation for Trevor before the Munster game.....then he scores the winning try.....what a guy!

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps Sign Lions Captain Burger Odendaal
« on: February 22, 2022, 06:43:13 PM »
This looks to be a really good signing for us. It is difficult to get a real picture from the tribute/highlights link but he appears to be more than a bosh merchant......and clearly has impressed John Mitchell. I am looking forward to seeing how he can gel with Ryan Mills as, on the face of it, they could be very complementary. He will give us more than Jimmy does in terms of physicality and attacking threat and probably the same with Fekitoa from an attacking perspective.
With Sam Spink and Ollie Hartley learning from them and Le Bourgeois as a back-up, I am pretty comfortable with our combinations.....never mind about the Odogwu option at centre.
What we will need are Atkinson and Umaga to step up as we need a reliable goal kicker to cover what Jimmy brought to us.
I am not sure we are really lacking in any department for next season as long as we can keep our props and hookers healthy!
Thoughts on other areas we are short on?.......with Jacob looking to be a playmaker fullback and Miller to provide a safe pair of hands (try to put the Exeter game out of your mind!) at fullback and cover for flyhalf are there any signings we need to make for next season?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Bugger - Launch recalled by Eddie
« on: February 08, 2022, 12:53:54 PM »
This smacks of desperation by mad Eddie.......to even consider playing someone who has been out for so long with a serious injury and who has not yet played a full game back (oh! and who certainly got some knocks last weekend).

I am a fan of what Eliot Stooke has brought to us since joining and would have him ahead of Ewels and Isiekwe never mind a not too/fully fit Launch. I would love to see Eliot's stats against the others as I wonder if he has even been told he is on the England radar.
