Shame they couldn't knock those last 3 points over, to take the LBP away from Aus, but that doesn't take anything away from what was an incredible win.

Oz conceded so many turnovers and have Michael Hooper sat at home...

Allez Fiji!!  Worth the wait of 69 years.  And second match I've watched all the way through in about 3 years.  Mad Eddie's tactics the same old same old volley ball.  I like to think that wearing my (75 year old) necklace of Fijian shells  helped to tip the balance.  But maybe not. Congratulations  Fiji.  Well done!

If it had been a ref other than Carley, they might have beaten Wales as well. Fiji are no mugs these days.

They might be a banana skin for Eng in the 1/4s.

Or for their own handling errors... could conceivably have had comfortable wins in both matches but for final passes going astray and dropping the ball a number of times.

For a large part of that second half it was Australia attack, Fiji jackal, win a penalty and kick to touch, lose lineout and repeat.

Well done to the Pacific Islanders, lets hope Wales beat the Wallabies

I know Aus and England are a mess as are Wales, who arguably might have been beaten by Fiji with a different referee. However, the Fiji team have a decent chance against anyone except perhaps Ireland and if they got the rub of the green could probably beat them as well.

I think the top four ranked teams are head and shoulders above the rest.

It would be nice if France or Ireland could break the World Cup winning stranglehold from SA and NZ

I see young prospect Max Jorgensen has broken his leg in an Australia training session. Sounds sadly familiar? hopefully it won?t have the same impact on his career as it had with another.

Eddie resigns

No doubt those who thought he was a solution to any problem will stay in place.

But still the myths about his world cup success record will pervade. Yes, Japan got a notable win. Yes, England beat NZ in a semi. Not common- a 20 pc win rate vs them means victories are to be savoured- but they didn?t go on and win after a perfect campaign. I would not call getting thrashed in the eminently winnable final for which they were clear favourites  a success. Woodward's damning comments during the week itself having been invited into camp pretty much indicate that it was a cock up waiting to happen.
Anything else? Oh yeah 2007. Eddie was a 'consultant'- one of 20 odd non coaching backroom staff whilst the boks fluked a world cup where their master stroke was to avoid all the good teams.
2003- one great semi win vs the second best team, and a final that, to be fair was closer than it should be- glossing over Watson's dire performance at scrum time.

So that is it. From 2003, a great win for Japan, two great semi wins, and a peripheral role in a winning team that he neither coached generally nor specifically. No trophy as head coach or indeed in any coaching role. At least he never had a 2015 England style debacle. Oh, wait, Quantas are on the phone about those plane tickets, something about a swap to an earlier flight. Only issue is it diverts at Fiji......

Sounds a bit like a Monty Python sketch - Yes but apart from ....... what have the Romans done for us?  ;)

He's had a good World Cup record up to 2019 but he's had his day and should now go out to pasture and enjoy his money and family.

Monye is doing what he does best, talking out of his backside. If you read the details of Jones? so-called resignation it?s obvious that he was given the option of resigning or being sacked. He hasn?t walked away after their worst ever WC performance, he didn?t want to leave but Rugby Australia (rightly) came to the conclusion that he was leading them in the wrong direction so it was they who gave him the heave-ho. Of course it was their own fault for appointing him in the first place, perhaps they should have looked a little closer at his actual record as Westwaleswasp has done.

It does, but it is over 20 years and 6 world cups- you could argue a fair few others have better records.
