Title: Stephen Vaughan joins Wasps as Chief Exec (sports)
Post by: Raggs on August 16, 2019, 03:16:26 PM
Quite happy with that, have heard him interviewed on the rugby dungeon before, came across very well. Wouldn't be surprised if there were others interested in his signature.

Very good news. Gives a better balance to the off field admin for sure.

A superb recruitment IMHO. having Stuart and Stephen doing what they do best is a very good move. Nick basically moves back to what he was in 2017 - #2 to Derek.

It quashes the silly rumours (was it started by Les Reid and/or SBT?) about Wasps not paying players and cutting staff. Also the same rumour said the company running the casino were pulling out .. but apparently they've just signed a 10 yr extension

That is one hell of a signing for Wasps.  You can't begin to imagine how high he is regarded by Gloucester supporters and club.  As part of his persona he is not only fantastic at his job, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the game but one of the most approachable and engaging people that you can meet.   All I can I say is best wishes to him and the club and I'm sure that the Gloucester games will have very difficult loyalties for a while to come.

Didn't see that coming. Thought he'd move away from rugby. Were you as surprised as we are, KPP?

Yes, very much so. As you can see from his twitter he was held in very high regard by all.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was headhunted specifically, but he's the sort of bloke that you really want to succeed in whatever he does.  We've had some great chats over a glass on European trips and you will enjoying having him on board.  I shall certainly be making a b-line for him.

BTW he's a big Villa fan but I would think sorting out the SISU mess for the football side of things is quite high in his intray when he turns up.

Yes, it is a horrible mess and I think it is a very good idea to bring a completely fresh approach to it. Currently, both sides seem deeply entrenched at the moment. Hopefully, it can be sorted satisfactorily for all sides and CCFC will have a secure home at the Ricoh (or whatever it may be called in the future) for years to come.
