Title: James Haskell
Post by: Oneyedwasp on September 17, 2017, 09:21:02 PM
Ok, I'll get ready and pad up!
James Haskell, the support he received from supporters when he was given a yellow card and on his return was ..... well you could say was admirable but I felt it was misplaced. He let himself, his team and supporters down. He is/was an England international and a British and Irish Lion, an act of sheer stupidity was costly and quite frankly pathetic, was EJ in the stadium? Perhaps it would explain his behaviour, I'd be more impressed if he spent more energy when in a wasp shirt playing the game we go to watch.

I'll get my coat.

James is an old pro and should never have reacted to Marler's puerile antics.

Agreed, James should not have reacted. But the event overlooked the Elephant in the Room. Marler felt he could get away with doing what he did, right in front of the ref, knowing that the ref would do nothing. Quins, as all effective teams do, played to the fact that the ref was not in control of that game all of the time, and was quite ineffectual. Don't get me wrong, neither James being sent off nor the ref being useless were the reasons that Quins won. They won because they had a game plan and kept to it for 80 minutes, plus goodness knows how much longer for the stoppages. And our back line was not playing at all well for some of the time.

It was actually Sinckler that removed Hasks headguard and then Care who smuggled it away and the it on the floor some 10m away.

We can agree that the yellow card wasn't the sole reason we lost, the point is with the experience Haskell has he should have been better, we need experience and leadership on the field and we didn't get it.

Haskell completely over reacted and never should have acted in that manner. Completely in the wrong, and if the citing officer wants it to go further I'd not be surprised.

That said, I loved the crowds reaction, and would prefer that to anything else.

When Marler went down clutching his ribs, I had hoped that it was some old school justice being meted out. Probably not though, in this day and age. Rugby's changed a lot since I played, not always for the better:(

As a Tigers supporting friend of mine just said: if we carded everyone who was a bit of a dick then only Launchbury would be left.

Let's do it! Launch could just walk everything in.

That was pretty much my response.  Though I bet EJ still wouldn't pick him first...

I think EJ prefers a certain attitude in his forwards, Joe isn't his cup of tea

Ha :) My better half would probably refer to him as more typhoo; you only get an ooh!
