The neck roll was a shocker, I also think CMK acknowledged that WLR should have been given the advantage...or did I mis-hear?

Not an excuse (honest), we were second best but Quins should have played the majority of that match with 14 players. Dave Ward's 3 offences (including dangerous play and spitting) in a matter of minutes was overlooked by CMK, it should have been RED. If he is cited it only goes to demonstrate that CMK did not act appropriately - that alone has to be questioned as part of a woeful reffing episode, Marler as usual got away with murder. Referees seem to think Marler is this comedy villain that merely needs ticking off now and then, whilst his dirty and illegal activity goes unchecked. If we can sort the handling issue out then we can beat anyone, much improved today and Campo looks good in the role he took today, pair him with JDJ for the next match. I thought this was a vast improvement from the Bath game, just lacking guile on occasion and good hands, we can fix that. WLR and ED were quiet though, I think CMK not playing the advantage when WLR was due to break out of the 22 was a poor decision....onward!

Agree, and add to that a great 'talker', he is constantly making the players around him more aware. I can't wait to see him back, out of the current first team squad I admire him the most, not just a massive talent but a great team player and a massive heart for the cause.

Good news, his leadership on the pitch is so important, with Launch back as well I am hoping for better times with a much greater sense of purpose going into 2019.

Now being reported in Coventry Evening Telegraph - https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/rugby/wasps-injury-news-kieran-brookes-15601954

Director of rugby Dai Young confirmed it was a 'significant' injury in his post-match comments and gave an update ahead of Wasps' trip to Twickenham to face Harlequins on Saturday.

Brookes hasn’t suffered a fracture but it was a syndesmosis ," said Young. "But it’s a significant ankle injury that will put him out for months rather than weeks.

"They’re usually an eight or 12-week injury so we’re expecting that and it’s a massive blow for us."

What is the syndesmosis of the ankle?

The most common way the syndesmosis is hurt is a twisting or rotational injury to the ankle. The ligaments that support the syndesmosis are needed to stabilize it, and it is these ligaments that are stretched or torn when this type of injury occurs. Ankle sprains can injure the syndesmosis.

I think/hope JDJ will stay, not fussed about Gaby - nice chap but not good enough and the undisputed cough up king at Wasps. Would love to see Umaga in the senior squad for next season, from what I read he has inherited the right genes :) . I think Daly may stay - no logic, just a feeling. Stuart will be a tragedy but I have resigned myself to JCW, WLR and Hughes leaving.

BTW, The Fijian scrum half Lomani, is not joining, he wants to stay in Fiji to prepare for the World Cup https://www.ruck.co.uk/transfer-news-fijian-star-says-no-to-premiership-club/, which makes me think Simpson may extend his stay, we should let Hampson go, he was shown up vs. Bath and is not a top scrum-half.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Our Next 3 Games.

Things to fix;

Tackling and Defence, Burns walked through our defence, it was like the parting of the Red Sea.
Handling, too many dropped balls and knock ons, suicide passes that in the conditions were always going to be tricky, but we kept doing it.
Decision Making, lack of clarity or ideas, have a game plan, if it isn't working, change it - leadership challenge here, none apparent at the moment
Basics, when you've got the ball - try and keep it for more than two phases, the forwards ran the same straight lines over and over again and not breaking the gain line, we kept losing it, we kept doing it - what did Einstein say? I can't recall how many times we went backwards.
Boss The Game, Bath bossed Wasps away from home and with minimal away support - stamp authority, Saracens (love or loathe them) do this superbly, win the mind battle.
Use Talent, Sopoaga has to play and become the playmaker, he is still new to the team and Northern hemisphere, Searle is a future 10 hasn't got the game for the position we are now in.
Basics - run forward, pass backwards - I tell my U9s this every week!

The players are good players but seem to lack both heads and hearts at the moment, you need at least one of those attributes. When Robson came on the play improved massively but by then it was too late, the next two games are critical IMHO.

The only way is up (well according to Yazz it is)....onward!

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Wasps v Bath
« on: December 23, 2018, 07:55:21 PM »
Just got in, an absolutely abject performance. Bath weren't that good, Wasps were that dire, no cohesion or looking like a team that had even met each other before today, Searle out of his depth apart from kicking. A radical overhaul is needed, the players are good enough but the system isn't, Bath bossed a game where they had 30,000 less fans cheering them on, that speaks volumes. Can't help feeling the annoying mexican wave when Wasps were in the corner was a distraction (that isn't an excuse by the way). I can't believe the polar difference between Toulouse away and this game. I also find Charlie Matthews going to ground after two paces infuriating.....off for some hop aided anaesthetic, the corner will be turned next game I hope.

We are odds on with all of the bookies, according to Oddschecker , the Bath win price is odds against but quite short....

I think L'Equipe have a reputation for being correct, a Centre for a Centre I suspect, so ED's departure inches closer I think.

Joe C missing is a huge boost for us, we couldn’t cope with him in the last him fixture, I was sat behind the bench and he was scarily good close up. The selection is strong with a quality bench. It feels like a win is coming, especially with a packed house.
