Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Expectations

For me. while I'd love us to finish the season with a stack of silverware, it's more about focusing on the controllables, so good outcomes for next season are:
Develop and communicate a clear identity/playing style - see comments above re attractive attacking rugby v identikit prem team
Recruit/promote so we have cover at each position to avoid such frequent playing out of position
Execute well - for me, that means enough continuity that players are on the same wavelength enough to reduce the silly mistakes, e.g., the number of knock-ons on Saturday BUT enough variety to develop the squad and reduce injury risk. A tough balance to get right
Off-pitch, continue to develop local links and support

Get those right, and the crowds and silverware will come.

After recent improvement I'm afraid CMK had a poor match last Sunday. Hope he is back on form on Sunday.

I thought he had a great gamefor Sarries.

I thought this doesn't start until Round 18. Can't seem to find any link for tomorrow's game - just me?

Quite keen on Newcastle away for the Prem as never been, but always seems to be on a crappy rainy, windy Friday.

It’s a good in trip. If you make it, I recommend a stop at Wylam brewery before or after, especially if it’s late season - good beer in a lovely setting.

I’d kissed my tenner goodbye by 70 minutes - might treat myself to a decent bottle now to celebrate 🎉

After Cruse's beautiful spiral kick from hands at the weekend, i'd have him in as a leftfield choice kicker.

Glad someone else called that one out - I thought my specs had failed me at first and I'd mixed up Cruse and Atkinson - was a great kick

Bruce. Early 50s. Accountant/banker. Live in Cov but work London. Been following Wasps since the move up here and go to most home games, sometimes with various teenagers when I can persuade them.

Schoolboy 10 and 15 (god I hated playing FB) - not sure my flanker father (Cirencester) and Grandfather (Torquay) ever forgave me.

Been a bit of a nomad over the years so have spent time watching and supporting variously Plymouth Albion, Moseley and Cov (live near Butts Park so will go when Wasps not at home) plus a rogue season watching Illawarra Steelers (League). Luckily when I was living in North London 20+years ago I had other diversions.

The beard is usually a giveaway - do come and say hi :)

Cracking game and some great performances. I had one question, which I hope someone more familiar with the laws can help me with. Law 13 deals with players on the ground on open play and states:

1. Players, who go to ground to gather the ball or who go to ground with the ball, must immediately:
a. Get up with the ball; or
b. Play (*but not kick*) the ball; or c. Release the ball.

(My emphasis under 1b.)

Why when a repeat of Howley’s 2004 try was looking on the cards was the Toulouse 14 (?) permitted to kick the ball out when prone? Thank you.

23 warriors in yellow and black stood up and were counted players battled and scrapped for every ball, bodies were put on the line and they got what they deserved.

It looked like it after the whistle went too - bodies all over the place! Great commitment at the death

I had to turn off at half time, Poite ignoring Kibirige being taking out off the ball then the yellow on Dan were the last straw for me, Poite was only refereeing one team.

Second half summary: It didn’t get any better

Chiefs sell them on their website. They don't come with any off-message branding.
