I do not like this at all.

It feels almost as if they've sat down and planned out the only possible move that would be even less popular than moving to Coventry.

I don't know if I can support that team.

First time I've smiled about a rugby game in ages.

That 1/4 Scottish blood is running strong in my veins today.

I fear this site will fairly rapidly become a place dedicated to an amazing former team.

it's better to say nothing until then.

I really disagree with this.  If a new Wasps is going to have any chance of surviving then they absolutely need to keep the fans on side.  I guarantee that thousands of people who would have followed the team in December are now disheartened enough that they've moved away.  A little communication goes a very long way.

The longer they leave it to bother engaging with us, the fewer of us there will be to engage with.

Legal liability vs sport

The hard helmet brigade win.

Fazlet at least will have a real problem with this.

Fazlet will have an exemption

Yep, doesn't matter what the rules say if they don't apply to him.

The only surprise there is Jones declining to comment.  When has that man ever declined to make an inane comment?

I tapped on a thread titled 'Well that was fun' and seemed to be invited to connect to several young ladies from Ukraine waiting for me to connect.

I am sure it would have been fun.

You are not the only one!!

All I ever get is paddleboards and camera equipment!

I genuinely didn't realise how much this place had become part of my life.

I genuinely found myself picking up my phone to check the forums while working on my PC to mend them! It seems my subconscious mind loves this place...

I cannot imagine it WAS fun. I have had to restore way too many WordPress sites. I can see you have some work yet, so I am going to engage silent mode on my fingers and let you get on with it.

I'm probably going to forget the wordpress section of the site and just keep it as forums. Apparently the two packages often conflict and we were lucky to get away with it as long as we did. And as I haven't written an article for ages it wasn't really serving any purpose.

I still have no idea what happened to the forums, but essentially I ended up doing a clean install in a new place and moving it across.

Got a few things to tidy up to make it look right but it does seem to be working again now!

Please use this thread to point out any residual bits I may have missed. And WELCOME BACK!

I was watching BT when they discussed the Farrell "ruling" and I agree that it stinks. If he's allowed to be selected and as captain, I'm supporting France.

Demonstrates that player welfare means damn all if those who carry the responsibility for player discipline and so safety - cynically exploit the rules so that a player can be selected for the national team.

I've been hoping I might regain my interest in England after Jones left - but this makes it very hard.....

This, exactly this.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / SUPPORT THE FORUM - 2023
« on: January 13, 2023, 09:50:22 AM »
Hi,

Obviously things have changed over the last year since I last asked you to support this place.  For fairly obvious and predictable reasons this forum has got somewhat quieter, but I, like a lot of people I suspect, am hoping that at some stage we will have a team to support again soon.  And so after much thought I have decided to try to keep this place going.

I've met some lovely people because of it, and I suspect I'm not alone in that.

So if you are able to help with a small donation to help keep the forum running in 2023 I would be extremely grateful.  You can do that by clicking on the big blue link here:

DONATE

This is a Paypal link, and connects to my personal account that I set up when running an online martial arts shop, so don't be too surprised by the name.

Thank you in advance, I genuinely appreciate your help.

If you aren't in a position to donate anything please don't worry, the site is free to use and I fully intend to keep it that way.

Nice to see we are still adhering to the rules despite the damage it does to teams.

Apart from the Cheats obviously...

With no interest at all in the Domestic game it's hard to be excited by the international game.

This does not help!

In summary:

Sell a hotel and you’re a well run club.

Sell a player and you’re a club heading into the abyss.

Borrow to buy a hotel, you’re financially irresponsible.

Anything I’ve missed?

Its more complex than that. They didn't just sell a hotel. The club which is owned by Rowe, owns a hotel. The club's hotel, that is ultimately Rowe's hotel, is bought by Rowe making it Rowe's hotel.

All that has changed is that a valuable asset has been reclassified in how exactly it actually belongs to Rowe.

It simply means that if he leaves, or if the club folds, he gets to keep the hotel.

It feels to me as if he is protecting his investment, especially in light of the fact that the club is now potentially not a going concern.

It's exactly what the cowboys at Wuss did, but they didn't have enough money to keep it going, that makes them almost criminal. Rowe on the other hand is richer, so his cooking the books in his own favour is just good business.

The longer this crap goes on the less I want to have anything to do with Rugby
