Under an hour to go.
Here's hoping the lads are focused on rugby and not nefarious other stuff.
Hope the weather is with anyone travelling to Bath tonight.
COYW (please)
-
Late Bath change - de Granville out Gallagher in.
-
Penalties still.
-
Back row balance looks better
-
Making lots of metres quite comfortably again. Willis T, looking fantastic in the carry again.
Hougaard off injured, Kibirige on
-
still too many dropped balls
-
Couple of good runs from Spink, keep going
-
What a really brilliant team try.
Well done Wasps.
0-11
-
Lovely try.
That said, the first half hasn't been a problem of late...
-
Umaga has put in a few pinpoint long range passes so far, really well picked, waited for the outside man to commit to Carr before throwing it.
-
Good to see Bassett can still score out of nothing really, great finish from him and that’ll do wonders for his confidence.
Creativity looking good with Umaga, Atkinson and Ofendaal - it’s definitely freeing up Spink a little more and bringing players in in the wider channels - hopefully Zach will see some action too
-
Nearing the 21 point mark where all collapses😀
-
Porter takes it beyond!
-
Wow just wow, perhaps we need to announce we are bringing in the administrators every week. Ow wait there is a second half
-
Over the 21 points now.
What a signing Burger Odendaal is
-
Well, I’m certainly getting my bang for buck.
Loving this.
All the naysayers on here calling for heads to roll really don’t know sport.
Wasps are a good side that are just waiting to click.
And it’s happening.
-
If we'd not been creating anything, and losing, I'd have understood the complaints, but we created loads, just didn't finish it. That's a side that needs a bit more polish, not a complete overhaul.
-
and for the 20... th time in the first half, I have to reload the BT page. Their service tonight is awful.
-

You really do come out with some tosh
-
So, 2 men off injured
21 points ahead at half time
Away from home
No try bonus point yet.
What could possibly go wrong?
-
Sorry, twitter a bit late on the final penalty. In France I can't get BT sport as it is an add on to my sky account.
24 points ahead.
-
24 points ahead, so no problem
-
Just pulling the sofa forward to hide behind for the second half. Can we, ssssssshh no can’t say the words………..not loose. 15 guys playing for the shirt tonight for sure.
-

Your words mean nothing to me.
I stand by everything I’m seeing from this Wasps side over the past few weeks.
Why you think it’s tosh is up to you.
-

I thought it was the crap German mobile networks.
-
That was a fantastic kick by Jacob in the red of the first half.
7-31 HT.
-
Right… how can we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this week?
Bath will be desperate for the first score so we’d better be concentrating
-

7-31 HT.
6 from 7 is pretty good going and keeps the score board ticking over
-
Good player, that young Umaga.
Has he been to Trevor's barber?
-
Very happy with that score. I'll go away now and come back at FT!!!
-
Tom West dominating an England international
-
Umaga playing well
-
That little offload from Carr is exactly why I think he should be in the team ahead of Barbeary. That subtlety, link play and selflessness is a game changer
-
I thought the in goal, post try, knee slide tackle was outlawed these days.
Bassett took a knee after scoring there
-
Tom West dominating an England international
Were they not flat mates when Academy players?
-
Tom West dominating an England international
Were they not flat mates when Academy players?
Were at school together, definitely from 16 but possibly a lot earlier than that
Hoping the West-Hislop early change won’t come back to bite us
-
That Bath try all stemmed by that needless shove in the back by Kibirige.
One of those silly penalties we need to cut out.
-
For anyone after score updates.
It's 14-36 to Wasps after 57 minutes
-
Dan seems to have slowed the game down a bit.
Maybe strategic?
Jack gets a yellow card for an unfortunate head on head.
-
Bloody hell, we have just stopped our intensity for the last 10 minutes
-
Ugo correct too many changes on the 50 minute mark
-
Well done spink
-
Ugo correct too many changes on the 50 minute mark
I agree, don’t think we needed to make any changes then, they were the ones who would have needed to make changes - we could have responded later
-
You have got to be joking, I’m sorry this is down to lee, too many changes
-
aaaarrrgggghhhhhh
-
Bath are playing much better, Wasps just dropped off intensity.
Wasps need to start attacking again.
Constant defence doesn’t work.
-
It’s past my bedtime and I can’t cope with this
Night all.
-
We need a little shift in momentum.
-
What is Dan Robson doing, so slow
-
How far ahead do we need to be before we can begin to relax?
-
How far ahead do we need to be before we can begin to relax?
I think that is the point!
80 minutes + once a week.
No bloody relaxation.
-
Great win.
Bath really came at us in the second half.
Gutsy defending by Wasps.
They put their heart and soul in to the game after a very difficult week off the pitch.
Thrilled for them.
Fantastic 1st half.
Just need to keep cutting out a few silly decisions.
But getting there.
31-39
Winning bonus point.
-
Risky end, if he’d hit the post full on and they’d gone up the other end and scored.
Glad we got the win but we do make it difficult for ourselves on the field and with coaches making changes.
Right wing up for grabs next week definitely
-
Whatever we can nit pick about the performance an away win with the oppo coming back after the week they have had deserves respect.
-
Well it’s 04:42 where I am, night all!
-
+1 chunky well said
-
I really don’t understand how mentally we change, I personally believe it’s too many changes in a short period of time. It look to put us off our stride.
We won and that’s a good thing
-
Tom West dominating an England international
I've never rated Stuart as a scrummaging prop.
-
I think the players won that despite Lee trying his hardest to lose it for us by taking off a load of players needlessly.
-
They needed that.
You can see the relief on staff and players faces.
They put in a huge shift.
That will hopefully act as a catalyst to keep pushing them towards an 80 minute complete game.
-
Was houilgan on the pitch. He didn’t get mentioned in commentary. Kileridge can’t tackle. 14 shirt up for grabs.
Now breathe. Credit to the guys we didn’t completely collapse as before. Dan didn’t add anything. Too many needless changes made.
Credit to the guys after the week they have had a win should bring a smile.
-
We seem to be great when we have the momentum, but once we lose it we really struggle to regain it.
-
I think the players won that despite Lee trying his hardest to lose it for us by taking off a load of players needlessly.
I actually think he had to make changes because the legs were starting to go a bit.
We were dropping in tackle intensity.
If he hadn’t made changes, I don’t think we would have held them on our try line for 4-5 minutes at the end.
I thought that was a magnificent defensive set.
Really gutsy.
-

I can see why West was brought off.
We likely need him starting for a lot of games in the near future, and the game looked won at that point
McDonald was limping shortly before he was swapped so maybe there was no choice there
I don't understand the changing of scrum half, and it's been discussed at length on another thread.
But I can see that Lee would assume he's strengthening things by bringing Robson on... Ditto with Ryan.
But however you look at it, we changed 4 players within 3 minutes, and 3 minutes later their comeback started in earnest.
-
But I agree about Dan being a bit off the pace when he came on.
Not sure if that was strategic, but slowing the game down actually worked against us.
-

Hougaard was injured early on and replaced by Kibirige
-
Substitutions need to strengthen performance not undermine it. Another reason the time has come to markedly reduce substitutions and create a 80 minute player.
-
There was an article at the beginning of the season I think in the Times where various DORs were asked about pre-season and the season ahead. One question was about fitness during preseason and Lee said he didn’t really look at it and they didn’t collect the numbers like other clubs. I thought it was odd and worrying as for me I thought fitness would be an absolute given. These second half collapses and the need to substitute players at set times makes me think that our fitness is lacking.

In that interview he said he didn't collect numbers like bleep tests / yo yos etc not that he ignored fitness but did it in a different way to that.
-
Nice, sympathetic comments from Johann van Graan before even getting into the nuts and bolts of his post match interview. That's why we all love rugby.
-
On the flip side of replacements.
If bath had kept Dunn on the pitch, I think they'd have won
Terrible hair though
-
Man of the match for me : Luke Pearce. Wasn't it great to have his fairly minimal but crucial interventions, combined with a ref who was prepared to properly consider the TMO.. Recently have also thought David Rose has been a good TMO, though I never thought I'd have any praise for him after pizzagate/that Saints game/ benefits shenanigans.
-
Phew. Just about kept our heads. Willis brothers just immense. Main reasons for our improvement for me. Carr, West, Umaga. Don’t like to harp on about players but what has happened to Kibirige? Silly pens, no pace, no desire to tackle. Anyway, enough of the negatives - a five pointer away. Blackett post match saying he’s still frustrated - I understand why.
-
I had to go into a Quiet Room for the last 20 minutes when Will Porter was taken off, Dobby fumbled again and Jack won a yellow card. I knew exactly wot would happen and stone me it deid. So good to see Tom back where he belongs; Will played a stormer, Barnes got corrected by the TMO, Josh got a brace and Jacob kicked better at conversions and the newbies shone as did Nemo. Lee?? Oh dear me. Why why choose to disrupt a machine functioning as it is supposed to just for the sake of change/fresh legs? Not a good idea as had been already proved. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
That last 30 minutes Wasps were awful. Kibirige was more than a waste of space on the pitch, but the whole team cohesion fell apart. Robson looked like he was on slow motion drugs, is he still hung over from his wedding?
Lee, we can't keep on conceding so many second half points. We need to field a 23 who know how to play rugby, at the moment we have maybe 14 or 15 out of the 23 doing that.
-

Yes, with Ben Morris outstanding during that period.
Lots of positives. Particularly Nemo's contribution to a balanced back row and the speed of ruck ball. Jacob played well but his catching of high balls need a lot more practice.
However, Kibirige should not be anywhere near the 23 after that performance. His positioning and decision making is terrible, tackling poor and he offers no threat in attack. Dobbie is a worry too.
Several players gave away stupid and unnecessary penalties, not only under pressure. Gabe would be a fantastic player if he was more disciplined.
-
What’s happened to Dobbie? Couple of days ago it was madness to start Porter….
-
I’m beginning to think that Tom Willis is better than Jack at the moment and wouldn’t be surprised if he got a call up, but both of them are leaders and warriors and the heartbeat of the side at the moment. Given the last week that was a courageous and inspired 52 minutes.
Then Blackett’s early subs almost undid everything for a second time. Understand the Props being replaced but give it until the hour minimum. The changes saw us lose our intensity and I have to say I had half an eye on Ryan who was just going through the motions - real let down given the effort of the rest of the lads.
That we run out of puff on 50odd minutes surely has to be fitness related - not just with a lead but being unable to come back at Bristol.
Umaga is 100% not a 15 - appalling under the high ball and awol in defence, he does some sublime stuff but only with time and space. Atkinson is imperious under the high ball and not scared of a tackle, so would have though a switch with Umaga could be a better fit.
Regardless, well played lads and congrats on a 5 pointer at the Rec.
-

Terrible hair though
I briefly thought Bath were playing Bill Bailey at hooker
-
Umaga is 100% not a 15 - appalling under the high ball and awol in defence,
He did successfully bring down Cockanisiga (I think) in full flow head on.
He went low, round the ankles. Job done
I was pretty impressed at the time
-
I would have taken 5 pts before the game.
Some heroic defending at the end. The win will have done the lads a lot of good.
-
I would have taken 5 pts before the game.
I would have been happier if we'd had taken more🤔

Think it's 5 pints to take before the game to watch at the moment!

I saw that too, was impressed. Then he got a done for a high tackle later, thinking nooo Jacob just do what you did earlier.

Yip.
So I don't think it's that he's scared, but it's just not natural for him.
Unfortunately, I don't think it'll become natural if it's not already
