Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Ex Wasps signing for new clubs
« on: October 27, 2022, 01:03:51 PM »
I just wonder the mindset of the players now.
Are they just taking the first thing they can get and potentially being under their value or can they potentially wait for the best deal before then looking for a new deal next season.

I imagine Jack and Launchbury etc can wait a while but for the Porters and Hislops might not be able to be fussy at all.
On the flip side, clubs might just not be able to offer them anything much

It'll be interesting to see what socks they wear
No brainer!

Brad might go for one wasps and one Perpignan now.

Ooh that stings when it says he’s currently unattached…

BP: I think Curran had taken a head knock. He had treatment and looked a little groggy.

Can’t be sure of the minute but he definitely took a swinging arm to the head as he was tackled.
He was definitely dropping in the tackle so probably only a penalty but was missed by everyone.

Two tries conceded from dropped restarts and a man down has cost us. Just not good enough

Assume Kibirige is injured too as he is not included at all.
Think Ododgwu and IF-W don’t really weaken us defensively but both improve us in attack.

Shame West is out but the centre partnership could be good but will be interesting to see if Mills and Umaga get in each others way a bit with both wanting the ball if Charlie is tied up.

Have seen Batley is off to Bristol, Sutherland to Ulster and Giammarioli is off to Bordeaux.

The Ted Hill’s of this world would always be ok with a new job but pleased for Batley.
Now looking out for a few ex wasps like Searle, Howe and Owlett hoping they can find a new club it’s these squad guys as well as the fresh academy graduates that I fear for

Also looking at Radwan (obviously take these rumours with a huge piece of salt given its reporter), but that definitely would be quite a boon!

Felt that Radwan was the one to sign when we got Kibirige, but he had a few injuries back then when arriving on the scene.

McGuigan is class, just not sure why he didn’t make it at Leicester, probably with him Frost and Gabe and Thunder coming through I think that’s too much class on the books. Keeping Cruse on would probably be better value for money and a better way to keep all parties happy.

Until we have sorted finances however, surely no one at all will be looking at us.

Whatever we think of them and him, Daly and Sarries were absolute class yesterday.
Sarries have evolved their game this year and look a real threat in attack and can still match anyone in muscle and that was without Itoje and Isiekwe in the second row yesterday.

Malins was very good again and watching a highlight show of Sarries lineouts would still be a decent spectacle to just watch McFarlane at work.

I have noted on other threads that it is beginning to really annoy me that some teams are using the ball held up decision to haul a player over their line to break up attacks. Obviously legal but certain teams seem to be using it as a tactic time and again.

Definitely seems this is starting to creep in, wonder why we still persist with the pick and go to get held up.
Teams need to adapt as knocking on the door for 20 phases for a drop out to then take you back to half way is a real momentum killer

Not sure whether Fisilau has the ultimate size at the top level at 8.
His strengths are his work rate, link play and his speed, he was absolutely everywhere yesterday.

If he can shadow Nemo for the next few years that would be fantastic, but I wonder whether a shift to 7 might happen as Ilione has. Problem is, with him, Tunney and Cripps coming through, they’re all probably fighting out to become 7s with Curran just ahead of them.
Not sure we’ll be able to keep them all.

I agree Simonds has to push on now, he’s 22, the same age as Spink, has served his time with Nottingham, recent experience at Manly, overcome some big injuries and now needs to show what he’s about as Hartley is probably ahead of him now at 12 and 15.

Think we lacked a slightly more experienced bench option in the second row or back row to come and steady things.

Tigers have put out a very inexperienced team but of course they will be very well drilled.
Some good match ups here between some of the U20 internationals.

Great to see Pabs and Martinez back as well as Curran back as thought he went off injured last week.
Van Vuuren was strong last week by all accounts so he could be pushing Cruse for 2nd spot if Frost is out a while

A three day squad this weekend, what a waste of time.

Are all of these guys unavailable for their teams now then?!

Think Bassett’s chance is gone and that’s probably fair. I think unfortunately Launchbury is getting edged out by far far inferior options.

My outside shout might be Will Porter. I think there are quite a few options at SH who are better players than Porter but we all know Eddie doesn’t always go with that logic so he could be in with a shout.
