Just an hour and a half to go.
Hopefully we can get a five point lift. Hopefully we can get past 77 minutes too far in the lead to collapse yet again.
The pitch won't be the dry track we need but let's hope it has some firmness left.
Match on BT Red Button (Extra) and apparently has a 5 minute run in.

I will miss watching as I have to travel 30 miles (I note Oxford Univ is going to woke Imperial Measurements) for jab No 2. So BB for me.
-
So glad you're joining the Second Jab Club. Welcome!
-
Thank you. A bit peed off having to go a fair distance to get it though. AND with them not moving the date.
-
Will have to watch the match later as I'm visiting the wife in hospital with a broken hip following a fall. I've been a member of the double jab club since late April.
-
Sirker, Curran and Eckersely among the "travelling" replacements according to BB.
-
Ross - hope Mrs Ross recovers well and soon. Sympathy to her.
-
Hard to believe, but a 5 point win today would actually put us 6th (for at least half an hour).
Let's get some daylight between the teams. Anything less than a 20 point margin with 10 minutes to go and my nerves will not cope!
-
Another double jab club member here.
Anything less than a 20 point lead with 3 minutes to go will leave me biting my finger nails.
-
Just 5 mins to go and chores all done.
Cant wait to see how Fekitoa and Odogwu perform at their second attempt, great going forward last week but very weak defencibly.
Still, Billy Searle is no Marcus Smith so I expect a much better performace from them this week.

Oh great, BT Sport app on the phone now refusing to work. AAARRRGGHH!!
-
Saw Eckersley and Curran last week as part of the reserves - Eckersley is a year younger than Alfie I believe so good luck to him - would be tough if one the hookers picked up a knock before Cruse is back.
Sirker really cannot be far away from a game with Kibiriges form - thought it could have come today.
Regular updates welcome on here as I cannot see the game today as BFBS aren’t showing any rugby today

Wasps 7 (Shields try) Wus 3 (penalty)

Tap and go by Wasps on Wuss 5m line repelled by Wuss

So far game being played in Wuss 22

Down in the Falklands - on the green list now at least
Cheers for the radio link - working so far.
Seems like we’ve left a few out there already with the tap and gos
-
Scrum pen.. another tap and go.. Biyi drops it 1m out.

Its a long time since I was there, coming up to 39 years.
If you're interested this guy does a good OTD and his book on the Argie invasion and NP8901 is a good read.

Looks like they're playing with a bar of soap
-
We should be miles ahead.
-
Its piss.. persistently raining.
Wuss are camped in their own half. Astute kicking by Robson.
-
Tactical with Alo? First game back - give him a burst and get Jeff on?
-
Just switched on - Why was Alo subbed?

10 - 3

A few sides doing this now, Italy in 6 nations for example, start one for 20 to 30 minutes then bring on another prop knowing if need be the first can come back later.

13-3 @ 38 mins
-
Could do with the weather to relax to push on for four tries

Half Time

Tempest making it up so far (both directions)
We have been so dominant but just need to keep being patient and the points will come. Liked the decision to take the 2 kicks at goal towards end of the half after previous tap and goes didn't work... are we finally learning how to manage a game?
-
Look forward to Hougard at 9 in the rain and Dan when it's dry next season!
-
Couple of errors from Charlie but overall he's looking good in that position. He's certainly a brave lad.
-
Currently Leicester 21-12 up, come on Quins!
(never thought I'd say that!)

Try Worcester

Very soft defence at the back of the lineout

Pants.
-
Worcester on track to score 40 points in the second half at this rate.
Discipline is shocking and we've completely lost control of this, need to change something
-
The sun comes out and we are falling apart. Are we part-vampire?
-
Tempest making the point to Brad - We're killing ourselves with these penalties.
-
Gonna be a red for Morris.
-
That's a bit harsh, the Wuss player got bounced into Morris who would have had to have foresight to be able to move out of the way.
But rules is rules...
-
Well we’ve dodged these sort of red cards for a while now and had lots against us - which of course hasn’t benefited us at all playing against 14 or 13.
Hopefully this will galvanise us now
-
A potential yellow for their prop could remove Scrum dominance for us as it would go uncontested
-
Weak from Tempest giving the Worcester tighthead a warning. He already warned him in the first half.
-
Drop goal?
-
How is that another warning? He has to go to the bin!
-
Commentators obviously as confused as me. It was the same maul and Hougaard came in from the side but ref decides it was a breakaway and no longer a maul hence truck and trailer???

Wasps needed to take a wuss player with them for it to be the same maul, unfortunately it was obstruction when they broke off.
-
Tempest desperate for Worcester to win this.
-
Up after 77 mins again then concede lots of penalties to concede territory - squeaky bum time again

So 8f all the Worcester players decided to disengage then the maul ends, Worcester then step in again and Wasps get penalised? Shades of the Italian ruck debacle?
-
That’s a relief....
Probably any other team than Worcester would have had us there
-
Painful viewing I’m afraid.

If the ball is at the back in that situation they would be told to move it away or break off before being penalised, if the ball at the front they could carry on driving.
-
Should have won it much more easily.
Harsh by Tempest on the penultimate scrum.
We were responsible for a total refusal to give the ball air in the first half when camped on their line.
-
Thought the fekitoa/odogwu partnership really struggled s today.
We clearly tried to play a lot of 9 and Dan was excellent, but every time Jacob got the ball he seemed to look for content and more often than not got smashed backwards or turned over.
Possibly a decision due to the conditions to keep it tight but if you don't give your Outside backs the ball it's going to be difficult to create chances.
Lucky win in the end
-
Just back from jab time. Is it worth watching on Prem Rugby later?

Thought that scrum penalty decision was wrong. Their scrum was reversing.
The only reason the scrum wheeled round is their loose head went to ground.

I'd watch the highlights buddy, there wont be many as it was not a good game at all.

Liked the first half. Ten minutes into the second half I had to go away into another room till 5 minutes from the end - and even that was nerve-racking. But at least the team made it. Just.
-
That falls firmly into the "a win is a win" category. Got across the line. West, JTA, Shields and Young were great.
-
How many kickable penalties did we turn down in search of a 5/7 pointer?
We were in a position at the start of the game where 4 wins from 4 would probably give us a top 8 finish. IMHO we really need to take each game as KO rugby and points accumulation should be paramount. How many tap and gos' and kick to the corner failed? I reckon we could have had at least another 12 points. That would have settled the nerves and allowed us to play more controlled rugby.
For the next game - (I know I don't pick the team!!) I would have Taylor starting, Jimmy at 12, Malakai 13 and Paolo 14.
-
Definitely agree with that back line and I'd add Miller at 15.

Agreed
-
We had real scrum dominance early. Maybe Alo is a suitable scrummaging replacement for Brookes (he seems more of a wrecker around the park too)
However, we also had dominance after Alo went off, so maybe they had just had a weakish scrum
Jury out, but I'd like to see more

This has just been perfectly explained in the Bristol game by CMK, if the maul is driving straight and the defenders detach the same maul can continue, if the attacking team choose to detach and "change lanes" then it is obstruction.

In a parallel world Saturday's match is still going on. Worcester's replacement tighthead has just given away his 79,637th scrum penalty. Ian Tempest still hasn't sinbinned him.
-
To be fair I don't think there was anything wrong with the 79,636th one.
-
For the next game - (I know I don't pick the team!!) I would have Taylor starting, Jimmy at 12, Malakai 13 and Paolo 14.
But then you don't have the experienced heads (including Miller) to bring on the close out the game....

I think Taylor, JTA, Gopperth and Miller on the bench with their less experienced counterparts starting was a very deliberate strategy to try and fix our inability to close out games. Perhaps it contributed to our profligacy in the first half, but it meant we had some old heads on hand to see us through the final, nervy minutes.
I know one of the above conceded a needless, late penalty, but as a strategy, when the team has been faltering late in games, it makes sense to start the youngsters and bring on the experience.
-
This may sound as blasphemy, but I am beginning to get worried by having Gopps on the bench. I really think this should be his final full season as a player. I do hope that we find a way to keep him. It would be a tragedy if he didn't stay in one form or another.

I agree he's been looking like his best years are now behind him. Just not the same energy he brought to the game last season. I think of the performance at Sarries last year where he led a very inexperienced team to a memorable win. We all knew time would catch up with him in the end, but it seems to have happened very quickly as just 7-8 months ago he still looked in his prime and like he had a good couple of years still in the tank.
-
I think part of the issue might be that he is coming off the bench. He's had no time to acclimatise to the pace of the game or work his way in to it. Some are better "finishers" than others. Gopperth looks to me like someone who likes to start and grow into the game. I think there's still another season in him - he can feasibly cover 10,12 and 15. Also, a lot of kicking responsibility will fall to Umaga next year. Maybe Jimmy can pick that up for the odd game.
