Title: Sarries could possibly avoid relegation
Post by: coddy on September 23, 2020, 06:35:30 PM
There's a distinct possibility that with no crowds in Rugby until at least Spring next year the Championship just won't be played due to finances.

This means Saracens who could be back to back European Champions have no games to play which of course won't bother us but could easily panic the RFU into pressuring the PRL into bringing forward a ring fenced 13 team Premiership.

I can't convey into appropriate words how annoyed I would be at this scenario but it's one we have to consider is a possibility.

Right now I'm more worried we won't have a premiership either.

If clubs cannot earn revenue how can they survive?

Let's face it, plans to start the 20/21 season were made on the assumption that there would be bums on seats by then.

What would happen if a club.. be that with a potential 500 supporters on a Sunday morning.. or 5000 on a Sunday afternoon opened their turnstiles.

Have any acts of parliament been passed to stop that?

As far as I can see the govt/NHS/SAGE need more guinea pigs.. if it means I have to go to grounds around the UK to watch rugby.. (all expenses paid.. the same that MP's get), then I'm willing to make that sacrifice  :P

Most of them have avoided relegation anyway by being kept warm by those clubs willing to indulge in the shoddy practice of offering them a loan. I prefer to look at it the other way - with no Championship they could never be promoted.
