I like Ridley, Pearce, Dickson and Maxwell-Keys. I don't mind Carley, don't mind Barnes. But I dread Doyle and Tempest.

his continued absence is just baffling

Why is it baffling?
Surely its a sign that he's not doing in training, or the games he's played, what the coaches want him to do?

I think it's more that he's done well in the games I've seen him play in, and yet doesn't get many opportunities - despite the fact that from what I've seen he's contributed more than Gaskell or Rowlands. But as you say, there's far more that goes on away from game day that we don't see.

I'd play Jacob this weekend. Exterminates away in the wind and rain is a bit of a thankless task, but it will certainly help him improve as a player.

Ugh, Tempest. Not the worst, but far from the best

I think he's been quality, a real find. I had no idea that he had played 10 until that snippet in the commentary.

I think long-term his future could be at 6, but he has been brilliant. I confess I had forgotten about Matthews until he was mentioned further up the thread. I actually think he offers us a lot, but his continued absence is just baffling. Maybe he was being saved for the league games and we'll see him at Sandy Park?

I think this is Madigan's replacement. With Sheedy and that young lad (who's name escapes me temporarily? Ioan?), they have two players currently ahead of Madigan and probably on less than him combined.

Piutau is surrendering his marquee slot, from what I've heard, but is being offered another deal. Puts him in an interesting position as he can't go to another Prem club as marquee, so will need to take a fair cut to fit into the cap in other squads if he wants to stay in England. Or he goes to France (where I can't imagine there'll be a shortage of suitors), or he goes home ahead of trying to crack the 2023 WC squad.

Sadly playing as we currently are we don't look too attractive!

I thought him to Irish was all but done, but great to hear we might still be in the hunt
