Read this on Shedweb. Posted by ROLLO (many posters here will be familiar with him) - Wuss stalwart.
"Talk yesterday was that the next club in peril is Saints."
That surprised me as I thought they were in better shape then most.
What do you think?

Given that no clubs are running a sustainable business model and are either teetering on the brink or only not teetering because a someone is paying the bills out of their own pocket, it could be anyone of ALL the professional clubs!
-
Actually thought Saints were the most solvent.
-
Given that Bill Sweeney was talking about English Rugby being "on the cusp of something spectacular" is it just one club?

Wow!! After 4 professional clubs have gone to the wall in 12 months, what could he possibly have up his sleeve for an encore???

I too was led to believe Sinners were the healthiest in financial terms of the 10 clubs left.
Nothing surprises me anymore in this game so could be true although I would of put money
on it being Tigers or Falcons next to go.

Possibly the Donkies.

Saints are a team that normally pack F Gardens out. And they know how to charge. I?d imagine they have a larger portion of their revenue as gate receipts compared to others. So the reduction to 10 teams may hit them harder than most.

Good point Shugs.
Did BT eventually cut their payments because of the reduced number of teams? If so that?s going to put a big hole in any club?s finances because they will have committed the payments in advance.

Sweeney is F'ing deluded. It is his fault, to a large degree, that professional rugby in England is staring into the abyss. What the something spectacular is, who knows? I would be happy for him to announce that he is falling on his sword.
-
On ?600k a year, he can afford to be deluded.

If Clubs continue to collapse at the present rate of knots we'll be able to have our own private League, and the RFU will reach it's ambition to have just one ''team'' in the Premier. Guess who. And ''Guess Who's'' Trophy cabinet can then be full to busting of any old trophy that's going.

Spectacular can be used to describe negative events ie a spectacular failure of something. Maybe he?s alluding to something like 4 clubs going bust on the same day just before Christmas?
