New sponsor?
Fingers crossed!

Will it be like the huge announcement that there was a new partnership for the Ricoh that never was more than an initial announcement? Never heard any further details!

I presume the signs will read C.B.S.A. You'd never get the whole wording onto the Family Stand.

Be good to try

Any 10 year deal has to be good but a local name compared to an international name?
I wonder how much Wonga that is worth?
-
In the current climate, Wasps have done very well to secure a 10 year deal on the naming rights.
-
Being a member (my money!) their main logo is Lady Godiva on a horse in two tone blue so I can see that on the outside plus a bloody big sticker on the roof!

From the Offy:

Apparently Coventry Building Society is the UK’s second largest building society! I did not know that :)
-
Excellent news!
Coventry Building Society is a very successful company who have flown under the radar for a long time. It makes perfect sense.
-
'The CBS'?

Hats off to Derek and Stephen and team for pulling this one off. 👌

Often referred to as "The Coventry" so maybe we'll just call the Arena that. There shouldn't be any more confusion as to which city we play in now.

Bobby put the logo up from the screen

The Coventry Building Society is viewed favourably in the West Midlands area, I think this will only strengthen Wasps ties to the region/City of Coventry, and drive up support. This coupled with the Henley-in-Arden training facilities and an improvement in relations with Coventry City FC means affairs off the pitch are definitely moving upward.
-
Vodafone, Hummel and this in the space of a month. Not bad going.
-
They might not be that well known nationally but they are a very large building society who have a reputation for doing things properly. This looks a good deal to me on the face of it.
-
It's fantastic news, and can only be massively beneficial for the Wasps group. If it provides some longer term stability to be able to kick on and develop the site into a full blown conference venue and finally get Derek some return on all the money he's poured into it then I'll be happy.
-
Compared to some who are scratching around for naming rights (read: over inflating the value of them hoping that someone will meet their OTT valuation), we have done well to get a deal, even if we have lowered our price (and I have no evidence that we have). Much rather have a deal in place now than wait for two years hoping the value of naming rights goes up. Having a partner who is not a betting company a definite bonus too.

All going well off the pitch, now let's have a couple of beasts signed for our tight 5 please.....

There's a familiar name as Chair of the CBS board...

Well well that will stir some up!

I would like to welcome CBS to the Ricoh Stadium! I wonder if the old name will hang around. That must be a risk for CBS.

Just had a look on Sky Blues Talk - Not stirred up as much as I anticipated. Lots of posters who think they should be getting a share of the revenue though. Whilst I do not doubt that their return made it easier to secure a naming sponsor for the stadium, we own the stadium, pay the bills etc, so I don't know why they think CCFC deserve a split in the revenue. I doubt very much that Wasps got a share of the revenue when Causeway sponsored Adams Park.

On the last point correct. Even if they did get a share it would only be for a short period before they move to their new purpose built stadium - progressing nicely I hear.

Cannot wait to see the Loch Ness Monster Stadium when it's completed...

Pleased that something has been sorted out. I suspect it may well be just to cover maintenance costs ,but
At least it has a local connection.
-
The CBS Arena - hopefully we'll go on to set some records there

(that's one for the older generation!)
However it says all Ricoh branding will be changed - what about the seats that spell out RICOH in the East Stand - re-arrange to spell WASPS? No way they can be rearranged to spell Coventry Building Society

I guess it will depend on the deal we've signed with the Building Society. Which way do the TV cameras face?
-
My first thoughts are:
- Coventry Building Society Arena doesn't exactly trip off the tongue. If it gets abbreviated in common use to the CBS Arena will that not reduce the brand recognition?
- It's not a big international name. I'm not sure how big the pool we were fishing in is, but does that reflect on our lack of recent success?

How many people had heard of the Principality Building Society when they sponsored the Millennium Stadium?

I didn’t realise that! Just thought it had been changed as it was no longer relevant and was in the capital of the principality!
-
Same chap involved as the Prinicipality isn't it? The CBS CEO was there before I think.
-
CBS to me says an international record company - but also an international television (they operate Channel 5) company.
Be interesting to see what they do about the visual branding, as the full name is a bit too long, and CBS too confusing.

Visually they use Lady Godiva on a horse in two tone blue.

Coventry Building Society are the second largest building society in the country who have flown under the radar for too long. Today’s news suggests they are wanting to increase their profile.
-

Given that the Welsh stadium is commonly known as the Principality Stadium and uses Principality Building Society branding, this may be a very clever way to make Coventry synonymous with its building society i.e. just call it Coventry Arena where the building society bit is thought of but not said as the branding does it subconsciously.

This is the way I think it will go. Ricoh at the top of the stadium is short but imagine the cost of two Coventry Building Society signs large enough to be seen from the countryside (!) around - especially the M6. Bloody expensive and probably too long.
-
Building Societies are generally known just by their name without the words 'Building Society' tacked on, eg The Nationwide, The Halifax, The Skipton. Why not just The Coventry? Also, personally, I prefer Stadium rather than Arena. So The Coventry Stadium or The Coventry Arena (if you prefer). After all Coventry City will be playing there too.

Probably will be known as that as time goes by . After all to me it was referred to as as ‘The Ricoh’ not the Ricoh Arena.

Wifes relatives, who all live just outside of Coventry, and are not fans of CCFC or Wasps all refer to it as The Ricoh.
As do I. :)

Yes but only for a short while until their super stadium is complete.

He also has strong links to a grassroots rugby club in Coventry and to a rugby playing school in the city.
