Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Injury Updates from BB - Jacob out
« on: December 07, 2020, 07:49:39 PM »
Lima's mistakes against Falcons were all avoidable, the intercepted pass was clearly a moment of madness or lack of judgement/awareness, either way he didn't turn up. The team looked energized once Minozzi came on, his zest and ambitious running is what a fullback should be about. Lima looks disinterested a lot of the time, and is clearly a man with a speed dial to his agent enabled. I have been patient, however enough is enough, a failed experiment that has cost an awful lot of money. Given the mini injury crisis and the need to rest consistent performers like Jimmy, then we have to include him.

I just posted in your other thread that we'll need a #2 10 and I don't want to dip into the market for another Searle..early or not, I'd like to develop Atkinson, not waste another year on a Searle type player that with respect, wasn't up to it and didn't have any connection to the club. Maybe Atkinson fills at 15 a few times, but he'll need exposure.

I'd also like Miller to get exposure to 12 rather than bench warming and agree a 13, we have boys in the ranks but they always seem injured? If Rowland goes then def a lock, haven't seen anything from Levi that makes me think he's the replacement guy.
Agree re Atkinson  - without going OTT I think he could be a bit special. I suppose we could go in with him, Umaga and a mix of Miller and Mills covering. I can't envisage a scenario where Lima is here in 21/22. I'm not sure on Douglas - he doesn't seem to be a lineout option but he adds a bit of go forward - he's certainly not a Rowlands replacement.
I like what I have seen of Douglas, he is a bit of a weapon in the loose and looks up for it, I often feel Wasps lack those edgy players that the oppo is reluctant to take on.

Personally I think Odogwu has the makings of a good 13, he has the size and power, looks like he can take a knock and can defend. His acceleration from a standing start is super impressive, and has good hands. With regard the other positions, we need second row cover and a good quality 10, I have been massively patient with Lima but he seems to underwhelm regardless, the Flacons epitomised that...and he will leave at the end of his contract, for Japan I expect. Is Sirker wedded to the wing or has he played elsewhere in the back line?

Tom De Glanville's England career probably over before it started....wait till his father gets home!

Bringing the game into disrepute looming large;

https://www.englandrugby.com/news/article/rfu-disciplinary-barbarian-fc-players

Individual breaches of the protocols (E.g. leaving the hotel without permission or without informing organisers of their whereabouts)
Providing false statements during an investigation

The second charge will be the one that gets them, IMHO.

Youngs shouldn't be anywhere near the first 15, sentimental pick - nonsense. Furbank is not an international 15 and had no consistency or form to back up selection. The rest is 'same old, same old', why can't EJ pick the players that are best in their positions, I find it baffling. The fact that Willis hasn't even made the bench is bewildering IMO.

Good to see so many players from The Championship included...  ;)

I am gutted and proud at the same time, just think we were all worried about being in the basement at Christmas, look at where we have got to. This squad of players can go on to massive things,I am not worried about the line out throw, those things happen. An immense effort from all and reasons to be cheerful about next season #COYW

The fact that players lied about their movements when they were filmed and recorded via CCTV is appalling...

The issue may be the punitive measures that get applied will be zero as this game will fall outside of RFU jurisdiction.

And, Nigel Wray has rocked up with the next year's biscuit supply for their committee meetings.

+1 regarding Brad, however I think Alfie has some of Ashley's attributes and we may see him in a fluid role for a while.

Odd, I sit corrected, I can't find that on my Insta, perhaps he is going on loan somewhere, which would be really weird if we have just signed him?

Errm, the post was from 7 weeks ago, he appears to be wishing his mate luck. And, he is in Wasps training gear in the photo?

It may be lazy journalism, aping another article but The  Telegraph is reporting that the 4 players who have tested positive are from the Academy. NB, you can read paywall articles if you stop the page loading quickly before the paywall pop-up appears.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2020/10/14/wasps-premiership-final-preparations-hit-four-players-three/

Wasps, who are due to face Exeter Chiefs in the Twickenham final on Oct 24, released the results a day ahead of the scheduled publication and moved swiftly to immediately place the four players, who are understood to be from their academy, in self-isolation for 10 days.

A massive loss if Malakia doesn't make it.

However, MLB did  a great job defensively on Radradra who is arguably one of the best 13s on the planet.

I would start MLB with Spink in reserve (he is a bigger unit than JdJ), it may be too soon for JdJ and I think we need muscle and size. Lee will probably go for experience if JdJ is fit.

Chiefs operate a forwards based game, but there is plenty of flair in the backs, Simmons,Slade and Hogg have to be contained or it will cost us dearly, on that basis we need a midfield enforcer, and MLB showed he can step up, he may not have the attacking prowess that Malakai has, however he has demonstrated his ability to plug the defence hole that Malakai being absent opens up. We weren't favourites vs. Bristol, and I am sure people who had backed Bristol were rubbing their hands when Malaki went off, we rose to that challenge and can maintain the momentum into the final. This is our miracle season IMO, and I have a good feeling.
