Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Qualifying for Europe last 16

So will a point see us through?
Depending on us not losing by a country mile.

If we get a single point and maintain a healthy points difference then we are in. If we get 2 points or more we are through.

If we only get 1 point, Stade would need a bonus point win and to win by more than 25 points atm to make up the current points difference.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Brad. England Rugby's Forgotten Man
« on: January 22, 2022, 12:21:04 PM »
Ultimately what is England's loss is Wasps gain! The string of performances (was is 27 or 28 games out of 28/29?) have allowed Brad to bed in with the club and to truly shine!
His passion for the team and the boys around him are only emphasised by his reactions after the Tigers and Toulouse game. Don't know when his contract is up, but extending/renewing it must be a main objective for Lee and co!

Will be interesting to see what happens with captaincy when Launchers is back.

Very positive move by Wasps. Acts like this make me very proud to be a supporter!

Hopefully there is a good turnout for the Sarries game. Wasps vs Sarries is always pinned in my calendar as Dad is a Sarries fan and I'm Wasps fan so makes for a good event

I'm excited to see how the line-up in the backs works out, the centre partnership could be immense!

Hopefully Brad can have a work with the ref regarding O'Mahony's tendency to fly into a ruck with arms tucked and shoulder first...

Wasps Rugby Discussion / More support for Wasps Women
« on: January 21, 2022, 12:36:39 PM »
Something I have only just noticed is the lack of sponsorship on the Wasps Women's kit. Now I think Wasps are very good at promoting the Women's rugby and netball teams but I think more could be done in terms of sponsorship.

For the rugby kit, surely companies that have their sponsorship shown on the Men's left chest position should also have their logo on the Women's kit? and other logo positions could have a similar set-up, just the chest position is probably one of the most desired positions (other than the main stomach/centre chest position)

Would make sense for BT to charge ITV if ITV are using BT's equipment and tech. I don't imagine ITV will use BT's commentators

All matches ITV will also be on BT Sport.

Ahh misinterpreted the arrangement. Can see why BT might want some form of reparations then

It could be that, apart from the final, ITV air games that BT aren't showing? If ITV aren't pinching BT viewers then maybe ITV won't need to pay BT for breach of exclusivity?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Free-view rugby
« on: January 18, 2022, 09:15:59 AM »
It has only taken 1 game to be shown on Channel 4 for about a dozen people, that I know have a history of not watching rugby, to become interested in Wasps. Now I'm not saying they are going to become die hard fans over night but now they are asking about where to watch games normally, which for me is incredibly encouraging. Hopefully the powers that be take note of the benefits of free view games!

ITV showing up to 5 games a season is a really good start, but I would love BBC/ITV/Channel4 to show a game once a week/every other week. A hybrid of subscription and free-to-air is the only way the sport's fan base is going to grow IMO.

And Cruse out so that's 3 more unavailable next week

Not only that, but Frost went in at half time limping very heavily. But, as for Umaga, if he can't learn to tackle, then I have to wonder what use is he? No attempt to get low, and led with the wrong shoulder.

Disagree that there was no attempt to get low. Both his legs were bend to 90 degrees. Yes he could have hinged a the waist, but still think there was enough mitigating circumstances to downgrade to a yellow IMO.

Have a feeling the second half might be slightly unpleasant to watch. However, if we do manage to hold out for the win, it will be a great advertisement for Wasps with the game being shown on Freeview.

Would very much welcome O'Connor back with open arms, but I doubt Bears will let him go.
If they are looking to free up cash then I think Bristol will let Radradra go ahead of O'Connor. I see Radradra in the same light as Feks, very good player when fit and available to play. But between injury and international duty he isn't available that much.

I'm all for the added security measures, it's important that everyone feels safe at the venue.

Was patted down at Twickers for the England vs Tonga game.

absolute joke of a call. I am all for player welfare but that was very harsh. By the same nature of the call, the Munster players shoulder ended up in Brad's neck so shouldn't he get a card. God forbid refs use common sense

Sounds like a f@ggin system was in place. Dont know if it was a system already in place at Wasps or if he learnt it from school but its honestly not a surprise. Pretty sure every team I have played for (except my school's Old Boys team) have had some form of a f@g system.
Not saying its a good or a bad thing, just not surprised.
