Just a quick question, my son went to the England vs Tonga game on Saturday and purchased a reflink and really enjoyed it. Do wasps have anything similar at the CBS?

Yes there is Premiership Reflink supposedly in all stadiums. All teams sold them a few seasons ago. I got ours from Worcester. They have four listening channels. One is the ref and a second is commentary- usually BT I find. The others are spares.

Reflink does work at the CBS. Not sure that Wasps sell the radios, have to be honest and admit got my two through Newcastle Falcons, they were available certainly up to July this year. £10 plus p+p.
-
The frequencies:
61.200 MHz
61.700 MHz
62.300 MHz
62.700 MHz
Are (according to Offcom) for ADS. "ADS is intended for the transmission of audio content for direct reception within a small defined area, typically a sports stadium or conference hall. This will permit the "broadcasting" to closed user groups of material such as a referee's comments, or conference translations, or audio descriptions for the visually impaired; in situations where other means are not suitable."
Probably any FM radio will do the job, but anyone else's model should work.
Falcons still advertising theirs

I brought this on Amazon for £7.99: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QQS9MGB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Works well, except for yesterday when I couldn't find the Reflink but did pick up the full BT Sport commentary. Felt very strange watching a game live with BT commentary, although the replays shown on the big screen made a lot more sense.

For some strange reason BT commentary bled into our 2 RefLinks yesterday - that is listening to E1 we could hear E2 (BT) faintly.
Wasps did sell them in the shop for a while. Strangely you had to Q to get to the counter as they were only held under the counter - weird. Hence we got ours from Worcester!

I had some reflink issues yesterday too, had ref fine first half but could also hear bt commentary on same channel in background, second half lost all on that channel but could clearly get bt commentary on next channel.
I wondered if it was because bt commentary was based in East stand which I hadn't seen before, Austin found it a long way up the steps before the game and at half time!

BT commentary is always from the back of the East stand. They interview on the ground to the South end of the West then run back. Austin can be quite humourous (in his own mind) if he thinks he is being watched (or shouted at).

COVVY. Very apt! :)

Looking at the frequency list from Tervueren my guess, as a former radio engineer, is that as they were on adjacent channels your receiver filters aren’t very good and you were getting crosstalk.

I knew there was a camera set up there, hadn't seen the commentators going up there past us in block 17 before until yesterday.

We are still using the "London Wasps" reflinks that were one of the ST goodies they gave away many years ago at Adams Park.
Have used them at most other stadiums (stadia?) we have visited, but the only place they don't seem to work is HQ
We also had the BT commentary on the reflink channel, all match, something we have never had before.
-
Had a reflink I bought at sarries a few years ago but it packed up a few matches back, so ordered a couple from Saints as they had stock £10 each, delivered in a couple of days.

I got mine from Saints at £10 also.
-
Chiefs sell them on their website. They don't come with any off-message branding.
-
As well as the dedicated "London Wasps" branded reflinks (see above) I also have a cheapo FM earphone-only radio that has a FM range that starts at 60MHz (as opposed to the usual 87+Mhz that most radios start at). This works fine at all places I have tried it at (including Wasps. Twickenham, Lords, Edgebaston and The Oval), wheras altough the reflink works at all Premiership venues it doesn't seem to work at Twickenham and some of the cricket venues.
Any FM radio that has a range starting at 60MHz will pick-up reflink. However most start at either 64MHz or 87MHz so these will not do.
They are hard to find on ebay, but can find them easily enough on Amazon (The one I have is marketed as Greenbang on Amazon)
Advantages are: can be used anywhere, not just as reflinks, but also as normal radio.
Disadvantage is no simple switching between Reflink and commentry usually found on second channel of a reflink device.
-
Some mobiles have fm radio capabilities - typically using the headphones as an aerial.
I would think they'd have the capability of picking up the required frequencies

I don't know about Apple phones, but the Android ones I have tested all have the availability to use only the 87 - 108Mhz (broadcast) range, which is outside the "reflink" range.

They are trialling broadcasting TMO decisions over the PA at Gloucester tonight, I'm sure the shed will approve!

Another SH "innovation".
-
They've been doing that in the NFL for decades!
-
Rugby League was doing it at the 2000 World Cup. About time we caught up with everyone else.

If they do that at the CBS Arena, those in the centre of the East Stand will still not know what's going on :)

Marley, just wanna say thanks very much for this Link and tip. Bought one last week and took to HQ on Sat, worked a treat (of course not on any of the 4 Ofcom frequencies). Only additional note I would add is the free earphones supplied with it were not loud enough to be heard over the stadium noise. Switched out for quality ones and all was good.
And now Reflinks are £8 anyway has already paid for itself. Hoping it'll work at Lords for years to come too.
Thanks again.

Advice/idiot-spotting required. Bought a Premiership Rugby clip over the ear reflink and a Covvy FM radio, at the home game against Gloucester could not pick up anything. Anyone know if it was being broadcast at the match? Or, otherwise, have any suggestions?

If it is a genuine PRL RefLink you will get most of the Officials chit chat usually on channel E1. On channel E2 you usually get the BT commentary. Occasionally they bleed into each other at the CBSA but hearing a ref with Austin faintly in the background is not as bad as you might think!
I have found that a pair of headphones plugged in is better than trying to balance the actual Reflink beast on my ear.
-
Thanks. The problem I had was that I could switch the reflink to FM radio and it worked, but back to reflink mode and heard nothing on any of E1 to E4. On the other radio I checked that I could get normal radio, but scanning from 60 up to 70 found nothing.
Will try again tomorrow when Leicester's run is ending.
-
The other thing we have found with them is they tend to eat batteries. Partly because we have to have at full volume to get decent sound.
-
It doesn’t always work at the CBS. It can be a bit hit and miss; some games low volume, some prem games nothing. Not sure if someone just forgets to switch it on or there is a fault.
-
Find it doesn't work for Euro matches or Prem Cup matches.
-
I ended up buying a couple of small radios off Amazon for £10 and have used them at CBSA for the London Irish game and away at Sale both time worked perfectly. Clear link to ref with no interference.

There were issues at some of the early matches where it didn't appear and the commentary bleed through but has been fine recently.

I've got one of those - works ok, but sadly no longer avaiable.
Any FM radio which has a lower range of 60MHz will work (reflink operates at about 62MHz). Unfortunately the vast majority use the "broadcast" range starting about 87MHz, although some go down to 64MHz, which is still too high.
-
I tend to use Aliexpress for this sort of thing. Can take about 3 weeks to arrive, but this one is about £5.20:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000945220101.html
(they will add the VAT at the checkout). You can use Paypal to pay. Over the last year, I have spent a lot of money on that site, any problems have always been sorted (quite rare).
They sort out the import stuff so no delays or fees there either.

Thanks to all. Worked fine this time.

It needed a "bleep" device for Genge's potty mouth.

I used headphones plugged in for the first time following advice on here, so much better and clearer!
