Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Open Letter to Fans from CCFC.
« on: December 09, 2018, 10:46:57 AM »
As far as I am concerned it is simple. Wasps should issue a statement making it clear that we guarantee to ensure CCFC do not end up homeless if the legal action is stopped and the fees are paid.

Stop trying to bankrupt us and we will guaranteee you won't go out business.

However if you do not stop the action then we will not aid you in any way at all.

Would agree here. Seems a fair trade, Legal action dropped for fair terms of tenancy.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Simmo....
« on: December 09, 2018, 10:40:00 AM »
Smaller, more reasoned readership here, so posted rather than on DW’s.

Overheard Simmo chatting to a fan outside the stadium yesterday as we were leaving.  The fan said that they hoped he stayed and didn’t want him to leave. He said he was grateful, but that unfortunately the Club don’t feel the same way...

Not overheard, but apparently said elsewhere is that he’s not injured. He’s just being selected.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: WLR Starts for Boks at 15
« on: June 07, 2018, 01:34:14 PM »
I don’t know too much about the Boks of late. Anyone with a more informed view on selection?

England team positives are Isikwe deserves a start behind an injured Launch and Nice to see Tom Curry in there. A proper openside at last. Suspect we’ll see Shields oust Robshaw over the course of the series. If so, that’s a pretty decent / balanced back row.

Backline is a wasted oppprtunity IMO. I’d have one with:

9. Youngs (I can just about accept it)
10. Cips
11. Daly
12. Tax
13. Lozowski (much of a muchness perhaps with Slade but I’d have him in there as he’s played with Faz)
14. Daly
15. Brown (our safety next)

Bench I’m happy with Spencer (I think Robson looked tired towards the end of the season), then I’d have Slade and Woodward. Faz/Loz to 10 if need be. No Ford. And give Woodward a decent amount of time to stake a claim

True.  It's also interesting to see what will happen with the French residency / player laws changing to encourage more home-grown players in squads and whether that might force Danny's hand.

On the France thing, I just saw Ragg's post about Eastmond.  Midol usually pretty accurate, but would be surprised if he went.  Like Wadey, I always got the impression that he was a lad who liked familiarity, his friends, family and home comforts.  There was always lots of rumours at Bath at how unhappy he was being away from 'home' in the North.

There seems to be a very close-knit bunch of lads at Wasps and WLR, Wadey, Eastmond, Danny seem at the heart of it.

Saw an Article the other day from 2014 from the Manchester Evening News.  Very similar thoughts from Danny before he signed a deal to come back to us:

https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/danny-cipriani-wont-rush-decision-8223916

Has options that he's weighing up, won't be rushed, wants to take time, priority is with good performances for the incumbent club, wants to be involved in play-off rugby into his early 30's.  A good few similarities with his interview after the Quins game.

That + the Searle rumour isn't great news for those of us who'd like Danny to stay (I'm happy to see Billy come to come to Wasps if he's unveiled).  But then again, if we're trading Symons for Matthews, Haskell goes and Gopps moves into a coaching role (likely he'll trade cash for longevity and I think he'd have a lot to give) then should free up some cash to help keep Cips.  With new additions we should be even more competitive next year.

I'd like to think that perhaps a 12-month extension would be good (best) for all - allow Cips to keep his options open and one last chance to get some Silverware with us and allows Lima to bed-down and settle-in without the same pressure if Danny wasn't there.  Also gives Searle a chance to learn if he does indeed come our way.

(Totally appreciate that in reality, you're only one injury away from your career-ending, so it can be difficult to plan like that from a players perspective).

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Gloucester game (meeting up)
« on: December 22, 2017, 09:00:58 AM »
Yep, that's the route I was looking at, I figured avoiding London should hopefully remove most the risk of running into unexpected traffic.

Hopefully we'll be setting off at 10am at the latest, so even if it's 4 hours, should make it in time.

A34 is a horrible road though.  Just as at home for you I suspect, Waze will be your friend! M3 > M25 > M40 could be an option to pick up the route above.  Suspect it's 15-20 miles longer and therefore all things being equal a slightly longer journey but you just never know sometimes whether it's going to be the A34 that's screwed or the small stretch of M25 coming past Heathrow.

That being said, the M3 has recently all re-opened after years of works to widen and expedite traffic through to the M25 to stop that pinch point.  Nowadays, it's generally very quick with little delay.
