Wasps Rugby Discussion / Hope All English Refs Were Watching
« on: March 31, 2024, 09:54:51 AM »
Watched the England v Wales Women's International and at a ruck the Ref  told the English No. 9 to "use it" as she continued to drag the ball with her foot, calling new players into the crocodile, was told to use it again and did not move to pick it up, so ref immediately penalised England.

Wasps Women.

Well actually it's to watch Trailfinders Women, but it is Wasps Women in all but name. The head honcho is Giselle Mather, and most of the players thay have signed are ex-Wasps.

Yesterday Tesla announced that some of their superchargers are now open to non-Tesla cars, at the same time, on the Tesla Supercharger map a new Tesla charger installation, due Q3 of this year, was shown at Judds Lane in Coventry.

Doesn't say at the Arena, but would make sense, especially if it were in time for the Commonwealth games, and doesn't say if it will be open to non-Teslas.

Just came across this advert for Bluebeard's Revenge shaving products featuring London Wasps.

Must be about 10 years ago, by the shirts, but can you recognise the players?

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Why the frisking?
« on: December 12, 2021, 10:35:32 PM »
Does anyone know why, all of a sudden, we are being frisked as we enter the stadium?

It doesn't bode well for getting-in on Boxing Day if we have to wait to be frisked and then, spend time trying to get a phone signal so we can display the COVID passport.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / OT Contact Tracing
« on: December 01, 2021, 02:47:28 PM »
As some of you know I help run a Gymnastics Club, and am the main contact, in that anyone wanting to contact any of the coaches does so via me using the Club's email.

Was suprised to receive an email, using the club email, saying I was a contact of someone who had tested positive by PCR and was required to self isolate.

It appears that one of the gymnasts who attended last Saturday took a PCR on Sunday and tested positive. When asked about contacts her parent said she had been at Gym the day before, and only contact details her mother could supply was my name and email.

However I no longer coach, as I suffer from a syndrome called CMT which affects lower legs, feet and I have little balance any more, so was at home when she attended gym.

Went on-line to try to sort situation out, but there is no way of stating you were not a contact, and it is a legal requirement to do whatever they say you have to do. In my case it said I don't need to self-isolate, as fully vaccinated, but have to book a PCR

Looks like that could be a situation that might affect other sports clubs.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Cup Team to Face Leicester
« on: November 19, 2021, 03:36:22 PM »
Wasps Backs Transition Coach Scott Barrow has named his side to face Leicester Tigers at the Coventry Building Society Arena in Pool 2 of the Premiership Rugby Cup on Saturday.

The starting team is unchanged from the side that narrowly lost in Newcastle last week.

The side is captained again by Sam Wolstenholme at scrum-half. He forms the half-back partnership with Tommy Mathews once more.

First team squad members Cameron Anderson and Luke Mehson are joined in the back three by Senior Academy player Ollie Dawkins. While Senior Academy duo Rekeiti Ma’asi White and Olly Hartley, who scored on debut last week, form the centre partnership.

Gordon Reid starts at loosehead-prop, with Biyi Alo propping down on the other side of the scrum. Between them Michael van Vuuren starts, after a try against Falcons last week.

Behind them Tim Cardall and Sebastian de Chaves form the second row partnership. While Senior Academy players Mario Pichardie and James Tunney are in the back-row alongside James Tyas, who is on loan from London Scottish.

On the bench, Senior Academy trio Alfie Bell, Fyn Brown and Greg Fisilau are poised to make their Wasps debuts from amongst the replacements. Pieter Scholtz, Zac Nearchou and Dan Eckersley, provide the front row replacements. Ollie Monye and George Simpson, who is on loan from Hartpury, are the backs replacements.
