Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Apparently a big announcement this week

If it's not something positive (which I will always hope it is!) my next best hope is that it is something that clears up any confusion, re: departures/arrivals etc.

Disappointed with the result but I think that the performance was improved in areas. I was happy with Nigel's officiating too.
What I certainly have noticed watching our game and then Munster's afterwards is that the French like a bit of a bit fiesty. Particularly when the Castres No. 7 feels the need to shout in celebration directly into Conor Murray's face after winning a penalty.  >:(

I wonder what the rationale behind having him over was? Was he supposed to be cover? He seemed a really nice chap when I met him during pre-season. I don't recall him having a particularly bad game either when he did get a game.

I do find the DM comments of Saracens clearing the decks to fit Elliot in quite funny though. I would've thought that these players were moving on / retiring before such rumours came to light. So how Saracens are clearing the deck confuses me.

They never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Definitely! ::)

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: Offside at the kick off

The line is deemed to be in touch so I'm guessing its ok as long as the boots are on it, not completely over it. My bugbear is when the hooker steps to one side just before they throw in (Hartley was the first person I remember doing this).. so the throw looks straight but it goes down their line of players and not down the middle. The lineout and scrum are a reset to start the game again but their should be a fair competition for the ball. Despite the governing bodies best efforts 9's still feed into their own side of the scrum

That makes sense to me. Marginal gains maybe? Agree with your other points too.

Can someone clarify the laws around the hooker throwing the ball into a lineout? I always thought you had to throw in with your feet on the outside of the touchline. Something seems amiss when I see the ball being thrown in with the hooker's feet being planted on the line with the hooker's toes inside the field of play?

The bit about him wanting to go to Sarries so he could be with his good friend Jamie George, ignoring that he'd then be leaving his very close friend Dan Robson behind at Wasps, was also amusing.

Good point made Paul.

That sounds like a good price. Like Nelly, I may also choose to sit nearer some other Wasps fans too if you don't mind!

I have always really liked Elliot and he's my girlfriend's favourite player, so I wouldn't really want him to leave. But I understand that players will move on. I also cannot blame him if he wants to move to an environment that is always competing for trophies.

Dai sounds like he's resigned to losing players this season judging by the "Lure of London" comment.

Great idea  :)

My name is James (as my username imaginatively suggests). I live in Birmingham but I will soon be moving to Lichfield.

I am one of the many fans that Wasps picked up after they moved to Coventry. A colleague of mine at work and I both decided we wanted to go and watch some top-flight rugby, so we chose Wasps for location (I had studied at Coventry University, so I also have a bit of sentiment towards Coventry also). We both bought season tickets for the 2017/18 season and have since renewed. We have become quite good friends as well. One of my stand-out moments of last season has to be Tom Cruse's flying effort to score a try against Ulster in the Champions Cup. I was also able to convert my girlfriend from a football fan to a rugby fan - I was chuffed with that.

Since graduating from University at the end of 2015, I have been working as an electrical engineer primarily in the pharmaceutical industry.

We currently sit in Block 31 so if anyone is nearby it would be great to meet over a drink prior to kick off one game.

I was fortunate enough to catch him walking through the West Stand atrium after the Bath Champions Cup fixture. He very kindly agreed to having a picture taken with me. Not did he shake my hand afterward, he also shook my girlfriend's hand. Lovely bloke.
