Wasps Rugby Discussion / Re: DECEMBER
« on: December 16, 2023, 01:43:40 PM »
I expect the only decision in play is whether to have the 20 or 30 years old malt with Christmas dinner around a roaring fire kept going by Sweeney throwing 20?s on it from his ludicrous salary.

I must admit I?m astounded at how long this is taking. This is the bed that was made when PRL went ahead in the format it is - running itself. At this point they may as well just give up and go with the plan that says 1) Carry on with 10 in the prem 2) Let the RFU continue with endless non matches to fill their pockets 3) Forget prem 2 and the second tier as a whole and 4) Just hope no one notices we haven?t actually done anything.

That?s Tigers fans for you isn?t it. I?ve always found a fair portion of them entitled and arrogant.

BT went for me this summer as well. Like Neils I don?t miss it and haven?t watched a prem rugby game this season. Occasionally check the results to see if any ex Wasps were involved but that?s about it.

In itself it?s an obvious waste of money. As a broader idea it?s a terrible one. So not good all round really.

Not expecting much. They seem to have hitched their wagon to a set of assumptions that will never be. Sweeney and his mob are fairly clueless but they?ve also inherited a terrible situation in terms of the game overall.

37
And the cornerstone of the prem 2 seems to be to ask the PRL to share more of their reduced spoils. Not going to happen

The problem I have now is that in a broader sense I don?t see much future for the pro game in England let alone a Wasps relaunch.

Little signs like this are the start. Admin error? Unlikely

A chance to set aside self interest? Delusional. Why would they? Even more troubling - why does he expect them to.

I stopped reading at the social media bit.

I think he peaked about 4-5 years ago. Since then he?s still been decent but shades of him recognising he was a media presence and a penchant for refereeing as to what he thought should be done rather than the laws crept in.

Interesting. And makes sense for both parties.

I know it?s a very personal thing but I can?t see the direct correlation between not being able to attend matches and not following Wasps. I quite understand that the live matchday experience is great but there is a lot around that and, as others have said, there are away games and TV.

Quite a shock this. Looks to be a good 4-5 years off at least though so it will be 6ways for a while. No mention of where the funding for this comes from. All appears quite a long way away.
