Wasps Rugby Discussion / Hopeful 1st 23?
« on: September 01, 2021, 05:02:43 PM »
So what are we thinking is the first XV and subs, ignoring injuries I guess.

For me, perhaps something like:

1. West - Improving game on game, best loosehead scrummager and good heavy carrier.
2. Oghre - Love Cruse, Oghre seems like a natural successor, same skills, but a bit more oomph.
3. JTA - Tough choice between him and Alo, might swap them and do an Italy, taking Alo off after 30.
4. Launch - Any arguments?
5. Gaskell - Starts to get tougher here, but I think he's put in some huge games.
6. J Willis - Any arguments?
7.  T Young - bit faster than Willis pace wise I feel, hence in the 7 shirt.
8. T Willis - Another who's growing each game into a really influential player.

9 Robson - Any arguments?
10. Umaga - Starts to get trickier here with Atkinson!
11. Bassett - Any arguments?
12. Erm.... Mills maybe, Gopps did seem to be more gametime managed last season, Simonds? Fekitoa?
13. Odogwu - I really like Fekitoa, but Odogwu showed something really special here last season, his ability in the breakdown is very useful for Wasps fast play in helping make up if the forwards are lagging behind.
14. Kibirige - He seemed to have slowed down last season, I'm hoping an off season and pre-season will have brought back the pace.
15. Minozzi - Another tough call against Atkinson here.

16 - Barbeary - Sorry Cruse! Frost looked dynamite in the highlights too.
17. Harris - Hislop may content this.
18. Alo - As explained at 3 with JTA
19. Fifita - I'm assuming we're looking at him more as a big lock?
20. Shields - Fifita at 19, let's me more easily put Shields here, can play across the backrow, got stronger each season with us.
21. Hougaard - Tough on Wusty and Porter, but I think we'll perhaps save him at first, then give him some time as the internationals come around, and start during Robson's absence.
22. Atkinson - Covers 10, 12 and 15 in my mind.
23. Fekitoa - Assuming I don't start him, then he can cover 12/13 without too much trouble.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Off Topic - Oculus quest 2 (vr in general).
« on: March 04, 2021, 01:56:59 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has one? Been looking into it with varying degrees of interest since the start of 2020, then the Quest 2 came along at a very attractive price and I took the plunge. Absolutely a fantastic buy. Currently playing a silly free game and burning 500-1000 calories a day (according to the in headset calorie tracker) in it. Just wish I had enough room to move around with absolutely smashing my fingers/walls/table/mouse/light from time to time. Also told my 81 year old dad to get one, and enjoy going fishing with him every week or so, nice to "see" him having not actually seen him in over a year. Amazingly peaceful fishing on rivers/lakes etc in South Korea, with a friend or strangers and just chatting and enjoying the fish.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Good news about Bristol
« on: September 07, 2020, 12:45:32 PM »
So looking at their last 2 lineups (including the one just released today), they're going to have a few key players at best on the bench for our game.

Benched or not involved: Charles Piutau, Radradra, Siale Piutau (if available), Sheedy, Sinckler, Vui, Hughes.

Though I think a few of those could probably come on at half time and be fine for minutes.

Still, could be useful for us to get started.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Tonights games (spoilers inside)

So Wuss actually giving Bristol a game! Let's hope they can hold on, 10-7 now, and they've been in the ascendancy I'd say.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / The run in.
« on: September 01, 2020, 03:55:18 PM »
So... just a guess

Sale 50 vs
Tigers 4
Sarries 4
Bath 4
Saints 4
Wuss 4

Bristol 48 vs
Wuss 4
Saints 4
Wasps 4
Tigers 4
Irish 4

Wasps 47 vs
Sarries 0
Tigers 4
Bristol 0
Quins 4
Chiefs 0

Bath 45 vs
Quins 0
Wuss 4
Sharks 0
Glaws 0
Sarries 0

Saints 40 vs
Chiefs 0
Bears 0
Tigers 4
Sharks 0
Glaws 4

Quins 37 vs
Bath 4
Irish 4
Glaws 4
Wasps 0
Tigers 4

Glaws 36 vs
Irish 4
Chiefs 0
Quins 0
Bath 4
Saints 0

Not bothering with BPs at the moment. Some wins are likely 5 pointers, and of course things can change. I've been pessimistic with our results.

Chiefs - Lots
Sale - 70
Bristol - 68
Wasps - 55
Quins - 52
Bath - 49
Saints - 48
Glaws - 44

That has us just sneaking into 4th place.

What it also does is really emphasises the necessity to beat Quins. A win against Tigers is important. A win against Bristol would be huge, especially if they slip up elsewhere, it could even lead to us jumping them. The victory against Bath was also hugely important, I've been very negative about their chances, but there's every chance they get more wins, and can still potentially get past us.

Tons of players, including players who'd already extended. Probably what Lima was talking about.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / First choice 23 for you?
« on: June 13, 2020, 02:07:56 PM »
Obviously it's a quiet time, so time for a bit of a disagreement.

1. ZuZu
2. Taylor
3. Alo
4. Launch
5. Gaskell
6. J Willis
7. Young
8. Vailanu

9. Robson
10. Umaga
11. Bassett
12. Mills
13. Fekitoa
14. Minozzi
15. Sopoaga

16. Cruse
17. West
18. Brookes
19. Rowlands
20. Shields
21. Vellacott
22. Gopps
23. Watson

Hard picks in places, Flament, Willis Jr, Wolstenholme, Porter, Gopps starting?, Oghre? Harris? JdJ...

Tempting to have JdJ in the 23 shirt, since Vellacott can cover wing.

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Contract situations.
« on: June 06, 2020, 03:47:20 PM »
Right, so I'm happy to try and create a contract list for everyone, giving updates on how long they've got, when they re-signed etc, but I'm not going to do all the research myself, so if people can post up everything they know, preferably with a source, that would be great.

Please give ideas for how to clearly present it. For now I've put academy players in bold. Now this may not always be in our academy at under 18, but they spent at least some time in our academy system.

Dates given are for the season that they will definitely be here. So extended 20/21 means they extended their contract at some point to cover that season. Happy with this? It makes sense for me, as it then doesn't conflict with people who Signed for the 20/21 season during the 19/20 season.

Green = here next season

Wasps Rugby Discussion / Cheap replica shirts
« on: May 22, 2020, 11:08:46 PM »
Wasps shop was doing a deal for cheap replica shirts, £16 a pop (and about £4 deliver). Not a bad price, grabbed one for my son. Was going to get one for myself, but I've got 2 and much prefer them.

So it doesn't look like Sarries are only trying to win home games.

A win for tigers, helps keeps Wuss below us. Quins grab 5, but we can get ahead of them again with 5 of our own.

Glaws losing to Sale does mean Sale stay well ahead, but brings another team into range for us to overtake them.

Pretty good weekend for Wasps overall so far. Just need a big win tomorrow and we're in 6th, with top 4 in sight.
