Interesting, you would think medicals would have been done at the time of signing? Why would it take from February to June to find out he's got a problem?

May be that he failed fitness tests on his return to the club for pre-season.

I would imagine quite a few players failing some tests on the first day of pre season :)

When I get back to work after a decent break I'm useless for a few days !!

I actually had a sneaking suspicion this would happen.
I spoke to him at the end of season awards for Nottingham and there were some things he said to me that made me wonder then if the signing either had or was going to fall through.

Presumably the medical is scheduled as close to the starting date of his contract in order to give time for any problem to clear up.

A shame, but that's professional sport. Interesting that at the end of the Umaga article there is also a full squad list and a reference to a "48 man senior squad". This suggests our recruitment is complete which surely finally puts to rest the Leyds question?

Was he playing for Nottingham towards the end of the season or was he suffering from a long term injury?

The only way I can see the quoted squad changing is if Minozzi's injury doesn't look like it will heal and at that point Wasps may then approach Leyds. Nothing has appeared about Leyds going to another club so a lot of his future club plans may revolve around his WC selection.

Ever since the Beale incident, my guess is that Wasps have inserted a fitness on xxx date in the contracts. Minozzi probably has such a clause, especially given he was injured (long term) at the point of the signing announcement, and I doubt he is due to actually complete that sign on until after the WC. I know he is in the Italy WC training squad, but is he yet fit? I doubt it.

He hadn’t played for Nottingham since January when he suffered a head injury playing against London Irish. Indications were that the concussion was pretty bad but I think there were other issues in play too (sorry, I’m mindful of what I’m saying if you see what I mean)

Is he due to play for Nottingham next season or are the "other issues" playing a part in that as well.

Wish the lad a full recovery. Shame he's missed this opportunity but hopefully others will come up.

That I don’t actually know the answer to. I presume not as Notts have already signed a replacement. The other issues weren’t personal but other injury problems he had- I don’t actually know how bad they are, all I know is that they were there if you see what I mean. I don’t know if the concussion and the other injury problems will be the end of his career or not- I hope not.
