Like that. Thought it might be Brad but great for two long service players.

Great decision.

For me too

I think taking some pressure off Joe is good too, and given most SH's think they are in charge anyway....

It's a nice way to take two guys on the cusp of international selection and show the world they are good leaders as well as great players.

Yes,  I agree. Many think it should be Brad, who seems to have a "leadership character", but for me he is not a nailed on starter every week unless he is going to play second row/back row, in which case he probably would always be involved. I mean there are a few potential choices and none especially outstanding in a LBND sort of way.

The other thing is that Brad seems like the kind of guy to offer leadership without being the captain.

The more leaders you have, typically the better you are as a team.

If Dan and Thomas are willing to discuss with Brad during the game, then it can only serve us well

I'd imagine if you end up captain of the 'Canes, you probably have the "Right Stuff" to be a leader anywhere

Like Martin Johnson said - he was Capt in name and in talking to the ref and by example, but Lol was the one providing motivational stuff and Wilko tactical input (alongside Catt rather often and vitally!)

So just having a fit happy Brad in the squad and side is a huge bonus - especially without a SR season in his legs!

I am delighted for both players. Great selections!

One thing I am a little confused by (and would like some clarification if someone would be so kind), is whether this is just a temporary stopgap until "Club Captain" Launchbury returns from World Cup duty. The way the bulletin is worded rather makes me feel like that is the case. This would be a real shame as I think both players deserve a season's run at captaining the squad...

Thanks

WW

Dai put it quite well at today's press day. He indicated with WC and 6N with their rest periods Joe will not play much rugby this season for Wasps. Thus the two chosen will stand in whilst he is away. Exact quote is on CovLive.
