Think I would go with Jimmy at 10 with Lima at 12 . JdJ at 13 with Odogwu  and Zachary on wings. Try Booj at FB . I know he hasn’t done this for us but has always struck me as similar to Mike Brown (certainly no worse) in his play. wonder if this the week we see Barbery come on as a centre.

By the way ,welcome Montague.

Welcome Montague

For me, the least disruptive option feels like
10. Jimmy 12. MlB 13. JdJ 15. Lima

Everyone in that line has experience at this level in those positions.
I'm not sure I've seen Lima have a poor performance at 15, and is becoming a very good 2nd receiver option.
Jimmy is Jimmy, and while I feel he's been better for us at 12, rather than 10 for the last couple of seasons, I still wouldn't be upset to have him at fly half
Booj is a 12. Its what we signed him to be and it's where he's always played for us. These are the opportunities where he can put his hand up and show what he can do.

With Atkinson on the bench we then have plenty of options to shake things up and move it around if we want to

Thanks  :)

Shows that Blackers still has plenty of options, albeit none of them particularly obvious.

I'm so reluctant to lose Jimmy at 12, but now I'm thinking back to that last Sarries game, where we had what could well be the same midfield and a back line of Velcott, Gopperth, Bassett, LeBourgoius, de Jong, Odogwu, Miller and they played brilliantly - although it was mainly a defensive performance. Swapping in Kiberige for Odogwu and Sopoaga for Miller should only be an upgrade.

I'm starting to be convinced.

TBH, I think everyone is getting caught up in who plays where. I actually think that Wasps need to discover the spirit in which they played the games at the end of last season & the specifics of who plays in which exact position won't really matter.

For the Bristol game the team seemed flat & off the pace compared to previous games. Not necessarily a surprise given the 2 days pre season but I think they need to focus on that, rather than worry about the exact personell.

I dont think Bertie will be pleased with that selection.

For me the least changes of regular position is favourable which means if fit Charlie Atkinson comes straight in at Fly Half for Jacob. If he's good enough to play against The Cheats first team then he's good enough to play against Glaws.

Out of curiosity, what's your feelings on the way that Eddie has players on the pitch but not necessarily in their regular positions?

Welcome Montague - I'm reluctant to loose Jimmy at 12 such that I'd prob go for Atkinson at 10 if fit. But...like you say - we were fabulous that day - a game I never expected to get close in, let alone win

My thought is that given the short pre season perhaps keep as many starters the same as last week and be prepared to "dig in" if it's not working and be more pragmatic. Last week I felt we were trying the good moves with rust all over!

But - if that Sarries line up starts - more than happy!

I'd like to start Alfie in the backrow and so aim to hassle Glaws - who will have had the "hair drier" after last w/e and have the resources to play well......we don;t want to allow them to get a foothold in the game.

I'm not saying thats what Wasps are doing, I think the spirit & attitude need to be there and as long as there's nothing seriously bonkers like a prop playing on the wing then positions will take care of themselves.

I think its not an Eddie Jones thing. I think its a relatively sensible coaching practice to play your best players in a combination that works. Austin Healey on the wing was one of Sir Clives. AT the end of the day, its horses for courses, if a coach thinks a player is better suited to a position other than his normal one, who's to say they are wrong?

Club coaches I can understand changing players about, whether out something they have seen in training or necessity.

But an international coach in theory only sees them playing in normal position and briefly in national team training,so should have them on their current form.or known strengths.

Do you think EJ actually talks to club coaches about his reasoning to see what they think of trying a player in a different position?
