Morning all!
« on: April 17, 2021, 06:32:40 AM »
Good morning all Waspies from a clear and crisp Guildford! I’m up with the lark as usual, however my alarm this morning was conducted by my stomach after last nights vindaloo....Gaviscon is effective, but not for the 12 hours it promised on the bottle! My wife wonders when I will learn that my love of very hot food can be upsetting for my digestion, but then she remembers my love for Wasps and the impact that has! So as my local Indian restaurant owner knows he has my unquestioning loyalty -although there was an incident regarding an onion bhaji - so my ongoing lifelong love and loyalty to Wasps continues.

This is a huge game, win and top 6 is possible, lose and there is more chance we will be running out in Russia rather than La Rochelle next term. Make no bones about it this is one tough assignment! Continuing this weeks food theme, choking on my sandwich as I read the team sheets over lunch at work yesterday was 50% it going the wrong way and 50% seeing Chiefs lineup. They have gone fully loaded for this game, and will be hurting from last week. Baxter is a DOR I admire hugely, some may not agree with his style, but it is accurate, forceful, explosive and highly highly effective. He knows how to get the best out of his team and do it with consistency...If only we could get him HQ bound! We alternatively have a pack struggling to assert their physical dominance, a line out that is misfiring, our fantastic 10 trying to find his form once more, a 12 that divides opinion, a high earner that never found his true potential with us, a young group of extremely talented players that are still finding their way and a coaching and playing group as a whole that have been unable to assert our game plan and style for long enough to dominate other teams and get those precious wins. When you compare and contrast this could be a very tough 80 minutes where we are shoved all over the park and will spend more time under our posts than Andrew Ridgeley spent in George Michael’s shadow!....Maybe with all this against us, it could actually turn for us? Oh! There goes my stomach again! Where’s that Gaviscon?

Come on you Wasps!

Chris

Morning Wombles, morning all.

My stomach is also in a state of flux this morning after last nights Madras, Red Wine and Thatchers Cheddar Valley Cider mix. A good walk will settle it no doubt this morning.

As to the game its where we expect to get nothing and if by some minor miracle we pick up a point or incredibly 4 or 5 then its get the balloons out and party time.

Morning Wombles, Coddy, and all!

I have no expectations for today. If I had to guess I'd say we will play some good rugby, but without the consistency we'd need to beat a strong 1st string Chiefs.

I doubt it'll be a complete thrashing, we'll be close enough to keep hope alive until the last 10-15 minutes and then they will pull away.

34 - 16 is my prediction.

Morning All

Late rise today. Somewhat ambivalent about watching today. It is very nice outside and a week of very long walks may be followed by one that brings me back in time for the funeral!!

I will watch, probably with alcohol to hand but do not expect a score favourable to us. Quite rightly Chiefs fans are confident so the best we can really hope for is our lads build on the good recent play and with a fair referee (!) maybe we can come reasonably close.

Good morning everyone. It's  cold (iced water  in the birdbath) but blue sky and wonderfully sunny - a  marvellous spring morning. We might  miss some of the  match  as (should there be an overlap) the  Duke's funeral will take precedence.  Sp glad that he has fair weather for his farewell.  As regards the match -  well. I hope for the best!  No  injuries or reds, and play to enjoy.   Safe journeys everyone.  Allez x 3 and . . ..  . .   C O Y W ......................

Morning all,

Lovely morning here, although a bit parky still and there was a bit of a frost when the alarm clock (aka cat) got me up by scratching at the bedroom door at 6am because he wanted to go in to the conservatory :(

Having been confined to barracks for 3 months it doesn't seem right watching telly at midday when the sun's shining, so my intention is to record it and stay off the Internet until about 5pm and watch it in "real time".

I've also no expectations, an LBP would be good and a TBP would be an excellent result. A 5 point win would be a pinnacle of Everest proportions, but we have a team that could surprise us all so I'm not discounting that altogether.

Have a good day, whatever you're up to.

Simon

Morning all. If we get nothing it's probably what we expected. If we get anything it's a bonus. So we can't lose really. I do think we'll test Exeter more than we might think. Not sure that will be enough to win but I think it could be quite tight.

Morning all from a cold and bright S Glos. Dog walked, coffee on and sofa moved away from the wall.....I suppose like Shugs, I'm expecting very little. We might well, if we can locate the belief, make Exeter work very hard.

I still remember watching us force a win vs the EA's full Euro team...purely by just playing with freedom. We need to play to our strengths which are movement and pace. We need discipline or else we'll be defending too many line and drives from 5m. We really need to stop Exeter getting into the game. No early penalties or "Hail Mary" passes.

My head says anything within 10 will be like a win.....

Morning All from a sunny Hertfordshire.

I'm surprised Exeter are going so top heavy today. Last week will have taken the stuffing out of them and whilst I understand their desire to get back to winning ways, after how relentless it's been since the restart in August I'm not sure it's the smartest of moves. I think there's more pressure on Exeter to get a result today and that's when Wasps can be so dangerous.

Morning all. Frosty early but sun has burned it off by now.  Cooking sausages for breakfast set of the fire alarms :-[ Climbed onto a chair to try and switch them off. Fell off the chair - failed HIA >:( Irritatingly they stopped on their own soon after. Bloody inanimate objects >:(

I'm with Marley on this one. Pressure on Exe, we've got nothing to lose. Go for it. Wouldn't be surprised to turn them over.

Morning all.
Cheddar valley is lovely, Coddy, but with wine- that sounds potent.

Lovely day here. Starting the day with county cricket- Essex vs Durham on live stream, and it is not looking good for Essex. Switching to the rugby and after that am putting up some decorative fencing.
Hopeful today, but that is probably the sun shining.

34 - 16 is my prediction.

Seems I flattered us with my prediction.

We played like a team of 2-3 good players surrounded by disinterested journeymen and youngsters, who are lead by a Championship level coach.

Which is depressing is we didn't last season, so I'd love to know what the difference is.
