Sounds pretty much done. I have a feeling this may be someone from outside the domestic leagues given the timings.

A big, mean, gnarly Saffa would do very nicely.

Could it be Stefan Armitage for one last spin in the Prem before retiring?

Not a bad guy to have around our young squad if that turns out.

Ardie Savea?! (Joke obviously)

I wouldn't say no to Evans or Fifita though.

Watching Quins, Sale and Leicester a few times recently I think a lot can be taken from them in terms of recruitment and their recent resurgence.

I absolutely would not want to go down the Sale route of recruitment and bring in that many overseas players but their strength in depth is ridiculous and all of those players bring huge physicality. The same with Lewies coming in at Quins and Wiese, Liebenberg and Brink at Leicester.

We arguably haven’t replaced Symonds in the second row in terms of physicality - we’ve instead invested in 4th/5th/6th choice locks, Cardall and Theo are working well and Jaiani might whereas Edwards and Douglas haven’t and no one has come in in years to push Rowlands and Gaskell for a starting spot.
The way Blackett has been talking and If we’re bringing in another front line 6/8 and lock it seems we’re finally thinking about recruitment like the top prem teams have been over the past two years in the pack where we’ve arguably been left a little behind.

Things are absolutely going well with our academy now and we have a great squad developing with some very astute purchases from the championship but some similarly astute recruitment in the first choice 23 could transform us. Imagine putting a liebenberg and a du Preez twin into our pack and things could look massively different in terms of our options and how others could then be rotated in and out of the squad.

Interesting to read a focus on proven quality back-ups rather than necessarily looking to spot talent in the Champ and bring-through.

The latter of course has typically worked out well for us, but interesting shift in strategy.
