The Ireland v NZ game in Chicago a few years ago was a success, but I'm not sure a tier 1 against USA would help matters... anyway.. these games aren't really about promotoing rugby within the USA (USA rugby is doing that from within schools and colleges and via their 7's program).. its about trying to promote EPL in the USA which will be as successful as NFL trying to expand american football in England.. there will be some interest but nothing that will help PRL and their new partners CVC raise income via lucrative US tv deals.

Wasps were at the cutting edge of such nonsense, l remember the game in Dubai (somewhere in the middle east anyway) against I think Quins.

Complete waste of time if I remember correctly....

It was in Abu Dhabi - at least Harlequins can look back on it with some satisfaction.

Normally its a club who doesn't mind giving up a home game and would welcome the extra money that presumably is dangled in front of them (lower table team?)

In my view the previous games have been poorly planned out and promoted and because of that a pretty much pointless exercise

So it could be Wasps playing as the away team.

I'm guessing it could be Wasps (I suspect there is very little awareness of the various clubs in the EPL).. there's probably other factors that come into play.. whether an EPL club have a US  based sponsor, whether they already have ties with a US club etc.

What might be  good idea is to have a double header .. i.e. have a premiership game followed by a MRL game after.. or vice versa.
