has Charlie Matthews lost a bit or weight? Mind you he didn't look that heavy last season. Maybe he's just looking for a yard or two more pace?

I must admit I thought he was looking a bit more streamlined. Hoping for a better turn from him this season.

Me too, his biggest challenge last year IMO was a lack of pace, or getting any sort speed or momentum. It frustrated the hell out of me, him making two yards then going to ground, causing a breakdown which we managed poorly on many occasions.

If Matthews can step up there's potentially a first team place waiting for him. JL and JG are first choice for me but beyond that it's wide open.

I think Matthews did really well when he played for us and was a proper nuisance in rucks and the lineout so I hope he gets more game time.

I think Dai is/was risk adverse so probably stuck to those players he knew but his squad selection for this coming season suggests that he's changing tack.

I thought he showed promise - I would have liked him to have been used more to a) get more game time...and b) reduce obvious others game time! I hope we are more flexible about selection as you suggest
