Great news for Jacob.

It’s probably time to tie up Thibaud too before someone else snaps him up.

You need a stand out rather than change every week, so the back line can start to play on instinct as well as just formations.
Sops has had his opportunity as has Searle, neither has delivered for me. I'd like to see Umaga get his opportunity and will allow him the good and bad games that may follow.
Time for a change is now.

I agree with you Hymenoptera, I like what I see with Jacob and a run of games will proof if he is our first choice, which i think will be the case

Thanks OG. I did include him in a number of good back rows. Perhaps I should have said VERY GOOD.

This is undoubtedly great news, and I'm super happy to see him re-sign, and to hear his comments.

It's also a sign for so the nay sayers regarding Dai's treatment of academy players.
Sometimes playing them is not best for their development.

I think we need to temper our short term expectations a little though for risk of putting too much pressure on him.

It's a sign of our current woes that some are putting him on a level par with an experienced senior international fly half (forget the fact that Lima was an All Black)

As exciting as it is to see Umaga play he's not at that level yet, so we need to accept that it won't all be rosy every time he plays, that there will be mistakes and bad games... But ultimately he's developing and will hopefully be that player we all want him to be in the coming years.

Good luck Jacob

This is great news and he's a really exciting prospect. I still have him behind LS and BS though. As impressive as he was against Agen you can't judge on that whereas the other two have mixed it with the best teams. I appreciate only more game time can tell us but until he gets that we just don't know.

Welsh Wasp - four good wingers and an international full back?

Yes, that bloody hyphen gets missed so often, raising my blood pressure.

Try explaining hyphen to a French person

My internet domain has a hyphen in it and I'm trying to return a phone on behalf of someone.. spelling out my email address phonetically we are stuck at the hyphen..

Apparently its trait d'union..

D'accord!

Phone is on its way

When evaluating a player you have 3 categories:
Form.
Experience.
Reputation.

Only one of these generally translates into points.

Firstly, fantastic news and great comments from Dai and Jacob. Really glad that he has committed to the club and that it seems we are going with the youngsters more.

I have always been in the camp of those who felt that Lima would come good and show his class, but it still doesn't seem to be clicking for him.

Bristol showed last season and this that a tyro can be the better option over an experienced international fly half with Sheedy regularly starting ahead of Ian Madigan. So I am not averse to Jacob getting a run at 10.

I'd play Jacob this weekend. Exterminates away in the wind and rain is a bit of a thankless task, but it will certainly help him improve as a player.
